  • Food Dehydrators

Have decided to bite the bullet and buy one of these as have run out of jars for excess produce and think it will be a good investment. However, there are LOADs to choose from and I dont know which one i should get!

I know lots of grapes are bound to have them (I'm a late developer!!) and would be grateful if you would let me have your recommendations please?

currently looking at the one on amazon for £89 or £99 with a timer but not sure if i have to spend that much!

    Thanks

I don't have one, but there was a post about this one somewhere that I spotted today:

Food Dehydrator from Westfalia at our Curing food inside the Household shop
Much the cheapest I've found at £27.99.
Can't find the post now, but the user who commented on it said they use a timer plug to put it on when they go to work so that it runs for 8 hours drying their chillies.
Am thinking of getting this one myself.

    EDIT:

If you are going to buy this dehydrator, enter the coupon "SAVE10" on the purchase page to save an additonal 10%

    Google is a wonderful tool

It was my post about the chilis. It's bargain basement but does the job well Have also dried tomatoes and also thinly sliced courgettes which came out crisp-like. The courgettes were very nice, seasoned with salt and pepper. Next time i'm going to soak the courgettes with some herbs and spices before putting in the drier to see how much flavour they can soak up.

Yes, definately getting one now, just need to decide where I can fit it in my kitchen.

Sadly I only just decided to order mine, so when i saw the "Enter coupon number" box i thought "Hmmm, I wonder if google has one"

It only equates to £2.80, but so many people seemed to be wanting to buy one on here I thought I might just catch some of you.

We've been using the Westfalia one for 2 years now and it's great although OH says she could do with a bigger one now that I'm bring more home from the lotties.

If there's one thing you must try though. Kiwi Fruit. Well what an intense flavour when dried. OH is constantly on the lookout for the deals in Aldi on Kiwi.

We keep a constant stock of breadcrumbs as well using the drier and we found that if you dry excess Spinach it just rehydrates and cooks by pouring boiling water from the kettle on it in a sieve.
I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

I am really excited about getting one now! I've dithered for ages but it seems like a great thing to have, especially at this time of year! Bring it on I say....

Mine's a Westfalia one too and I love it Great dried mushrooms when they've been reduced at the supermarket, also fantastic banana chips and apple slices
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

i have also indulged in a dehydrator from westfalia, i also picked up a few other odds and sods, i had to make the most of the 10% off.

i'm quite excited now and cant wait to get drying the multitude of fruit and veg i have.

one thing that looked really interesting in tyhe viewable manual on the site was the fact that you can also make fruit leather in it, just spread the fruit puree onto a sheet of baking parchment then pop it in the drier.
