I got her cutting garden book which is good but I got it from one of the publishers bookshops and it was about a £5 rather than £25!! I'd wait & see what it is from other places as she seems to be expensive with everything ( all that money and still dresses like a scarecrow )

Yes, that got you all going....! Welcome to the thread....
And it will be a pleasure to pay less for the book, when the right price comes up... Sarah Raven happens to be my man's ultimate adoration, so he wouldn't care if she was dressed in a snorkel and flippers frankly, and if she was, Nick.... it would be just as exciting as her scarecrow ensemble....!
and you're only fuelling his fantasy, so please stop now......

Just buy him a poster then, a book seems wasted.

SBP,
What good is a POSTER of a woman? especially in the kitchen or the vegetable garden.... or anywhere, for that matter, other than the obvious, if you can't get a real one....
Are you MAD girl?
A 'poster' never digs, weeds, harvests, cooks, or hugs.....
Do you grow vegetables to look at, or cook with?!Nothing
wrong with admiring a female form, and Trousers' choice is 'in addition' to, and he would like her cook book as his present.
I happen to like his present choice....because I like her style, and would love to try some of her recipes...

I assumed you were serious about buying the book from sarah ravens site - I was being helpful posting the lower price from Amazon, your next reply seemd to suggest you weren't.

Whatever.

Buy the cheap one and get Trousers to take it with him for signing when he's on the course!

Hazel, unless Pigletwillie HAS booked him and Trousers on one of her cookery courses for real, I think this little Piggy is telling 'porkies', otherwise that would have been a very good suggestion!

D'oh! Gullible, ain't I!

Actually, I don't know much about Sarah Ravens, so you'll have to buy the book, Wellie, then I can borrow it from you!

Now your talking, I never could resist a woman in just snorkel & flippers ..... specially a posh bird

I have to admit the cutting garden one is really a good book and she is quite knowledgable ( not in my class you understand but then again ..... ) It's just that bloody coat & wellies she wears hardly flattering to her lines...... still we can't all be Gods or Godesses

Nick, I'm not normally prone to say things like this 'as a woman' but there are definitely certain women that just 'ooze' sex-appeal, and I have to say, if I WAS a bloke, I'd have a 'thing' for Sarah Raven as well as Piglet and Trousers.... Her style is completely 'her own', which is the song sheet I sing from. Always be yourself.... and don't fear to be different..

going back to the book!!i have (the vegetable plot) which is a very nice and practical book if you don't have alot of time aND SPace.she put few recipes in it (without measurements) but its very continental ,the kind of food our household like to eat.i will be interested in getting her book but agree that will wait untill get it alot cheaper (stuff she sells on website is overpriced in my opinion).g

Yes, its mostly vegetable-based meals, the book is a real celebration of veggies. There's enough recipes for the carnivores, particularly with "posh" meat like pancetta (I had to ask OH what that was) but I reckon a lot of the meat is an optional extra in the dishes anyway.
