  • Your thoughts?

    Hi everyone,

Might open a can of worms here and believe me I don't mean to. Something I have been looking into and it worries me. I'm not a person to post my worries etc on here (and no disrespect is mean't to people who do, I fully support you) It might be political and I would really like people just to research and look into it and tell me how they see it please. We all like to grow organic (or as much as that is possible for the individual) some people grow herbs and look into the medicinal side etc.

    Google this:

Codex Alimentarius (WHO/UN) proposals for restriction of the presently freely available herb/vitamin/mineral food supplements.

not wholly as above, but in any form of the above.

There is a even a petition with over 17,000 signatures at:

Petition to: oppose the adoption of the Codex Alimentarius (WHO/UN) proposals for restriction of the presently freely available herb/vitamin/mineral food supplements. | Number10.gov.uk

To me it doesn't make sense that this would happen or be allowed as law? My opinion only.

Please don't turn this thread into what had gone before in the past few weeks. I have thought long and hard about starting this thread.

    Thankyou

    Sue x

Not sure what it means I am guessing we wouldnt be allowed to grow our own herbs is that right. If so that would be stupid.

I don't think it has anything to do with growing your own (difficult to enforce) I think it is about shops selling.

That's what I think also Jackie from my research. Herbal remedies or vitamins/supplements or whatever you call them will be prescription only???? What will happen to every health food shop?

The way i read you can grow what you want but it is trying to stop health shops from selling you some thing that may make you better .
you can still grow your own and eat what ever you want to.

Not sure either but to me it looks like they want to stop you buying herbal/vitamin tablets like vitamin C, primrose oil, etc from the supermarket, chemist etc, and only be able to get them on prescription from the doctor.
              Completely stupid.
Next we won`t be able to buy coffee as its a stimulant.

It is isn't it? Why is my question? Totally natural remedies, no risk as they are on sale with the beans at the supermarket (well, a few aisles away maybe) So if you can't buy them at the supermarket, then all the Holland & Barrett places will be out of business if the law is passed? Crazy in my opinion!

I think we are all not sure, because it sounds so crazy, but who knows. It's going to go through parliament or whatever means by September this year?

Just think of the amount of money the govenment would make on pescription charges.
Vitamins are quite cheap but would you pay £7. plus for some vitamin C tablets.
Looks like someone wants to furnish their second home.

What i mean is that if you read the petition they want to stop people from buying remidies from health food shops .
But it do's not say any thing about growing your own and adminstering it to yourself .
About the petition creator i will say no more you make your own mind up but business is usually behind most things going through parliment but i have been modded this weekend allready and don't want it again.
I have forgot where the norty corner is....jacob
