The place looks beautiful and on your door step too. Why do some people seem as if all they want to do is spoil everything, its such a shame.

I don't, but slightly north of that is an old landfill site (to the west of the Toddington Services area) , which is accessed via Upper Sundon - you can follow a little track along from the village, but I can't remember who's name is on the gate. Begins with a "B" I think.

I've been to chalk pits as a kid, and remember seeing the odd burned out car here and there, but never that many in one place.

There's an "official" dirtbike track just up the road too - look a bit north, find Harlington, and then head a little west. It's between Harlington and the garden centre (Poplars).

I don't think it's a bad thing I'm just:

a) shocked that the actual pit is there, and it's of the scale it is - given that I drive past it every day
b) shocked by just how many burned out cars are there

I can't imagine that many of the cars are recent "aquisitions" as the only gated accesses are well barricaded, but thieves can be ingenius and determined bugg�rs. However, there was a JCB in front of one of the gates this morning, and I did wonder if they were strengthening the barricades.

I've no particular beef with the people that go there (with the exception of those who are there via someone else's transport) as I say, when I was a kid my mates and I used to spend great times at a similar place on our bikes - though ours were the peddle powered variety.

They're out of harms way, off the streets and having fun.

If the landowner does NOT take steps to prevent access, he risks being held responsible for any injury that 'users' suffer.
