  • Wrapping Christmas prezzies

Somethings wrong here! My OH has me wrapping Christmas Prezzies already!

She's far to organised, All the presents bought and now wrapped, except for the 2 presents for her from myself and my daughter. These I'll more than likely buy these on the 24th....

That makes me sad, I'm big on doing things at the right time and to be all wrapped up this early is like eating strawberries in January to me, out of season. If things are stretched out too much it loses the significance for me and I won't be looking forward to it by the time it arrives. Have bought a few bits and pieces but won't wrap them all up until after the tree is up when they'll all be piled up underneath ready for actual Christmas. Mind you, Christmas Eve is cutting it a bit fine the other way!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Gosh, I wish my OH would help with the wrapping
I have the shopping all done already - I get well panicky in crowds of people, so have to get it done before the rush starts! But the wrapping takes weeks anyway - i have; 3 kids, 3 sisters, 3 s-i-l's, 11 nephews/nieces & 3 great-nephews, parents, friends & offspring...

I've done most of my Christmas shopping, I find financially its worth getting it out the way early.

We have a few b'day and anniversary around Christmas and in the New Year, as well as all the festive going out, it can be a real strain on the wallet.

                  I've not wrapped them though!

I think if you've lots to organise and lots of people to shop for it must be great having the organisational skills to have got the present buying/wrapping done and dusted. I take in the post for next door and she has got all her 'peripheral' relatives done about a couple of weeks ago!

So now all you have to do is think about the food & booze & decorations!

I'm with you there Two_Sheds, perhaps we should offer our services?

We have a 'no present' policy in our family - coz we're tight!

Seriously, we've all agreed that it's too expensive so everyone just contributes to the Christmas dinner instead. Youngest in the family is seventeen, and just want money - easy life!

We bought all the family presents on Friday, all from one shop and everyone got hats/gloves/ scarves and picture frames etc. Dead easy. Less easy will be buying for OH - he needs to write me a list (cds and books) so that I can get them ordered on line. We don't have a lot of money to spare this year. OH does all the wrapping and he's good at it, I'm rubbish.

I could imagine that the list works-this way you've got less hassle-you know what to get him and he's happy getting what he wants.
We used to do the same with my sister and cousins-and it worked great.Here-it doesn't.I always end up with some stuff that I completely don't need while my another request for wooden tools for the kitchen has been completely ignored...

I make a lot of presents - mind you, I do realise that I'm lucky to have the time. I've never felt that Christmas is about presents. It can make children greedy and adults frazzled trying to buy something for people they don't see for much of the year. Naturally they don't know what the recipient likes because they don't know them well enough. Pointless to give gifts in this case. For us it's close family and special friends only.

I have my cake, pudding and mincemeat made but I shan't start thinking about presents and wrapping till half past December. It's only the first Sunday of Advent - a time of preparing yourself (not your pressie list) for Christmas so it's too early for me. I'm giving up alcohol for Advent - as I do for Lent. Prepares me by strengthening my will! Saved cash will go to a charity.

I think Christmas is about giving - not spending - and you CAN manage that.
