  • Wow! Amazing Blast from the Past

    My sister has just blown me away with this link she sent me;

Welcome to Ladybird Prints - Stories, Fairy Tales & Rhymes

I've been oohing and aaahing, and even had a lump in my throat a time or two I'm sure loads of you will remember them. I won't say which my favourites are yet, I'll give you a chance to look before I spoil the surprise
Check out the list on the left of the page, I've put the link to my favourite page.

Some old favourites there indeed! Several I remember with fondness, but about 4 definite favourites....

and this, I still quote now, the kids are very puzzled by it whenever they won't help with the chores Welcome to Ladybird Prints - Little Red Hen "Not I, said the cat, Not I, said the rat, Not I, said the pig"

Think you might see my avatars change from flowers for a little while...

My absolute favourite ever is the first listed...Ned The Lonely Donkey....for years I'd been trying to track down a copy & the bestest thing about getting the computer was that I could search Ebay...instead of asking every human I knew with a computer....Lost the first bid as it went for nearly £10,but a couple of weeks later & it was mine just for a couple!!
I nearly cried the first time I reread it!!

When Ladybird books closed My first wife had a temp job "Archiving" all the stock & artwork.
I still have one or two of the books she "acquired"
I kept one because I though it was joke,it was "The Elves & the Shoemaker" in Filipino.
The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

How I wish I had kept some of those books. I do have some Enid Blyton books up in the loft. I had Secret Seven and Famous Five ( my era ) I have often thought about getting rid of them but decided to keep them.

I also had a set of Ladybird books in Greek which I took out to my SIL in Crete

They were given to her children's village school.

Another "gem" was "Stone age man in Britain" done for Ugandan schools.

I still have some! My children enjoyed them and then I was a childminder until 5 years ago and they were still loved! When I finished childminding I couldn't bear to part with them - isn't that what the loft is for?!

So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!

has to be billy goats gruff for me HB had this when she was wee, used to hid it every so often as it was the book we had to read over and over again, we gave the copy for sis step son, watched a home video of a holiday he had up here, you can here him asking if its a friendly troll under the bridge we were crossing!
Book is now sitting in nephews newly decorated room(he's now nearly 6 months)waiting for his step brother to read it to him!
