  • Would you wear red to a wedding?

I have been a bit about spending £170 - £200 on a dress with the dressmaker I am due to go and see tomorrow. I looked on the internet yesterday and found this which I have ordered in two sizes. The more I look at it, the more I like it but should I wear red to my sisters wedding, especialy as the bridesmaids (who I want to "tie in" with) are wearing pink!

I can of course return said dress. I did also find this....

I don't see a problem with wearing red. I think I prefer the second one too...

I'd wear red - the only colour I wouldn't wear to a wedding (apart from my own and I've been there and done that - still got the ring if not the tee-shirt!) is white, cos it looks like you're trying to upstage the bride!

I love the second one BUT I think you'll clash with the pink (sorry!) Why not ask your sister what she thinks?

My honest opinion is that the red dress is ok for the reception afterwards, you dont want to stand out too much at the wedding, no matter how beautiful you look, after all its the brides day. Something, like a dusky pink is nice but thats just my opinion.

You will look lovely no matter what you wear :-)

mmm red is one of my favourit colours, but, given the fact that you want to blend in with the bridesmaids in pink, then the dusky pink dress would be better,if possible why not send for it,and see what you think,is it possible to get the dress to your sisters and see for yourself as to how well it blends, also quite often the garments we like the look of are often not suiting us,well it is in my case, you could also have some time looking and trying on variouse styles and colours in a stores, bridalware shops ext, this will perhaps, give you a better prospective, hope you get something sorted,as you need to keep the stress levels down lol.

I think the second dress is better, too. I love red, but you'll really stand out if you wear that during the day - it's more an evening dress. The dusky pink of the second will go better with the bridesmaids (assuming they aren't 'Katie Price' pink!).

I would wear any colour, but I would try and make it blens with the pink bridesmaids dresses, if they dont match they clash becarefulx

I think the second one with a nice shrug/shawl/peshwari.

I'd have no qualms wearing red to a wedding....wore a red top to one fairly recently....but,if I wanted to blend in with the pink bridesmaids I'd probably avoid it.The second dress looks far nicer than the first...I know it's considerably more pricier...but it shows!...and still cheaper than the £170 you'd originally planned.

I like the second one too. I have worn red to a wedding, but under a grey jacket and with grey shoes/hat/handbag (it looked better than it sounds). The bridesmaids were in yellow though and I wasn't trying to blend. On the subsequent wedding photos the red wasn't too in your face though.

I prefer the second one Tammy, it kind of depends on what shade of pink the bridemaids dresses are pink comes in so many shades

Second dress (I think) would blend more with the pink bridemaids' dresses but I prefer the red. The only colour never to wear to a wedding is white. If you've got the figure - why not flaunt it You look dark haired so you would suit the red (go and wow with the red dress)
