  • Wind and Rain for my graduation!!!!

    Hi all

Just having a minor panic and wanted to share with you that I graduate on Saturday from Exeter University after 5 years of studying part-time, and it looks like the weather will be awful!

I have visions of my wearing a plastic bag to keep my hair dry for the photos! I'm already taking hairgrips to hold my mortar board to my head!

I always wanted to get my degree before I was 40 and I've done it with 6 months to spare. It's in Historical Studies but all the modules I did were British History.

I put my name down for the allotment 18 months ago when I knew my studies were coming to an end and I got one in October so the timing was perfect.

But as I say just having a minor panic about the weather, mind you it could be just as bad had I graduated in July couldn't it?

Hi Lumpyjumper. Congratulations on graduating and I wouldn't worry too much about the weather. I got my first degree just after Noah announced his plans to build a big boat and the day of the degree ceremony we all wished he was there to bail us out. The hair didn't matter too much to me 'cos I'm a follicly challenged male, and was even in those days. But my fiancee (now Mrs. Sarra of 40 years) was having kittens. Still we just enjoyed the day And everybody else was on the damp side as well so it didn't matter.

    Just enjoy it.

Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

      Congratulations on graduating! Great achievement.

About the hair/weather thing. Firstly, you can always try the 'drink much Champagne before 'photos, so won't care about silly old hat/hair" approach; or just remember that it's traditional to have funny hair on your graduation photograph. You have to, otherwise in 15 years time, how can you squeal "Oh My God I Look Sooo Terrible Look at My Hair!" every time you look at the 'photo?

Or is that what you DIDN'T want...

I graduated in July and the weather was 'changeable' to be generous. Mind you, it was Lancaster, so hardly the tropics!

            Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I graduated in July '93 and it was so hot people were fainting (those gowns aren't lightweight you know). I doubt there's ever perfect weather for it. Your family will be so proud, whatever you look like on the photos they'll have them in pride of place.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

Congratulations and don't stress the hair. Keep your mortar board on and make sure your tassle is in a prominant place - you'll always look back and laugh at the big, black dongly-thing. Hair will be forgotten about!

Thanks all, it feels a bit like the day before I got married, only this time the glory is all mine!!! <cackles in a witch like way>

I will enjoy the day I'm sure, and I'm contemplating wearing my hair up so that it can't get that spoilt by the rain.

I've decided that where my family park and what they do with their time whilst I'm busy getting into my cap/gown/hood and having pictures done, isn't for me to worry about (but I still do, but that's because I'm a control freak!)

As long as I don't fall over on the walk to shake hands with Floella Benjamin (she's the chancellor) Do you think she'll take me through the arched, round or square window? (that's completely lost on the younger graduands!)

Hope your pics are better than mine. I look like an over-sized pigeon and the pics brought out my different sized eyes. Yuck! The family ones looked much better. Good luck!

If your chancellor is Floella, how about turning up in a giant, multi-coloured jumpsuit?!? Yes, I am old enough, ha ha!
