  • Why?

Why would someone deliberately climb a 6ft wall and then tip over our Teak (read as heavy) garden table, destroying my plants that were on said table? (around 45 leeks amongst other things )
What did we do to deserve that other than put up with them hanging around at the back of our garden making a noise and only occasionally asking them politely not to sit on the wall as it is a) dangerous and b) freaks my disabled son out?
I believe that damp chicken pellets liberally dotted around the alley and a sprinkler system in the conker tree they so like to hang around under may be in order as the police are not interested

        .....so I can see

Lets hope that's it now- they've had their adrenalin rush.

Are the plants really destroyed? Leeks are very tough plants...repot, and give them a good watering ...fingers crossed some of them will recover.

I've rescued some of them. The rest are strewn all over the grass. Will try and find as many as possible in the morning but I'm not too hopeful. We have more than enough on our plates at the moment without this mindless behaviour. I could really do without it. Sadly it's not the first incursion into our garden and doubtless won't be the last despite several thousands having been spent on increasing security. Unless we are allowed to increase the height of our back wall I doubt we'll ever be left in peace.

Have you tried that sticky paint on he top o the wall?
To be honest I don't know much about the stuff.
I can't imagine it'd be vey good for birds- or cat's feet though

Do you have a Homewatch in your area- if so- have a chat with your co-ordinator. If not- would one of your neighbours be happy to be nominated ( I imagine you are too busy to volunteer?)

..you can't be the only house they are 'picking' on????

We are the easiest target. as we back onto an alley and are unfortunate enough to be opposite a semi disused business premise where the entrance is set back enough to provide an area the local youths can hang out in without being visible from either end of the alley. Our wall is about 6ft tall but even though we are opposite a 12ft wall with barbed wire on top, we can't raise the height as we are not a business The sticky paint is not allowed apparently. and the pyrocantha we planted died either due to lack of water/light under the mature trees already there or other intervention. It seems there is very little we can do. Unfortunately the area is only overlooked by us too so no one else would see anything.

Not sure what else to suggest.
Can't be nice for you though- I'm sorry.

Do try and get some sleep though-it's getting light now and you'll need to be fresh to start the new day xx

..having said that- I should try to get some shut eye too...our alarm goes off in 80 mins

Thanks Nicos. I really appreciate you being there. 'Tis already dawn here so you're probably right about the shut eye. Although it may be too late now.

Maybe the police might be interested if you have pictures? (so that they know who to slap on the wrist).

I have one of these: it comes with a clip that you can attach to almost anything. It only films for 2 hrs at a time though.

I got it after my latest bike crash when the driver failed to give way to me, and the police said it was my word against his what happened. I now have an independent witness attached to my handlebars

                        Another thought.

If you can bear the smell, I would start watering the back area of your wall with comfrey tea just before the youths tend to appear.

The smell really is unbearable, and the flies it attracts aren't that nice either !

If you are going to spray the "little blighters"(being polite)add a nice pink dye,
They can't complain as you can then prove they have been uninvited on your property & you could add essence of skunk to the spray.

((((((((((((BIG HUG'S)))))))))))) Incy, there's nothing worse than mindless vandalism... nasty little B%$@@Ds.

Do you know the youths that did this? Could there parents be approached about it?

Have you any dummy cameras dotted about the garden?...it's surprising just how good these are at putting idiots off causing damage.
With regard to your fence...you can put 1 foot of trellis on the top of a 2 meter high wall/fence. You can buy hard plastic spike strips to attach to the top of your fence, if they put there hands on them they'll definitely remember not to do it again. Mind you...so would the cat
