  • Why are T&M so hopeless???

in April, after waiting 6 months T&M sent me the Hawkshead Fuchsia I ordered but when they flowered in the summer I discovered they were not the ones I ordered, so they will be sending me more in April, some 18 months after I first ordered.

Today I had a large parcel, not one I was expecting. When I opened it there was the 4 packets of seeds I ordered as well as 10 T&M potato sacks (no wonder it was big). Also inside was my invoice attached to someone else's invoice for £16.99 for the sacks.

So some poor guy hasn't got what he ordered, but T&M wont be able to prove they sent them as I signed for a parcel delivered to me. I've emailed them but as it takes weeks for T&M to answer they will probably have to send out another order to the guy. I hope they don't expect me to pay postage!!

To be fair I've used T&M for more years than I care to remember and I've never had a single problem. Don't know if I'm just lucky though.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I started using T & M in the 1970's when I moved to Suffolk (which is where they're based) and the service, range and germination rate of their products was absolutely excellent. Also their seed catalogue was something you could spend hours reading - a mini-enclycopaedia. Ever since that time, however I have noticed a steady decline in all areas. I don't order direct from them any more, and even the free seeds given away with various magazines I have found problems with - poor value for money and poor germinations rates.

I wouldn't bother using an email to point out issues as its to easy to ignore, I would telephone them, only ever had cause to telephone them once and it was resolved immediately. I have had occasions where ordered plants haven't arrived because they have run out but they contacted me with a full refund and usually a £5.00 voucher

I used T&M for years and never had any reason to complain, i found the people at the other end of the phone very nice and helpful, which is more than could be said for some of the staff at some garden centers.
I prefer to seed swap now, at the very least you've got a good idea that the seed's are fresh.

I only began using them when I got some vouchers from here! As I was ordering anyway I ordered plug plants for bedding for my Ma, who likes her window boxes bright and bonny. Come nearly the end of May I queried my lack of plants. My cheque had been cashed in Feb! They looked into it and said they had sent them to the worng person. I got double what I ordered (I'd said that as they were offering half price plants at that stage I didn't expect to pay full price!) but not till well into June - and they were TINY! I was not impressed I can tell you. The 5 begonias came even later - and only 1 has sprouted - a single leaf. I will not be buying from them again!

Have sent off for plants etc off them on 3 occaisions despite promising myself after each time that I'd never do it again (I'm forgettful!). First time, they sent a different variety and over a month later than promised and only after about a dozen phone calls. Second time the plants were late and broken in half. Complained and got sent another set after a few weeks. Final time, nothing turned up and after many phone calls / e-mails they refunded me. Personally I've found them rubbish for that but have had no problems with seed orders which turn up very quickly. However, I have now stopped using them for seeds also as there are other firms I prefer.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
