      Yep; certainly is.

I'm making raised beds today for the lottie; and it isn't too blustery here today and the sun is out. And the OH is in London for the footie so I can saw, drill, screw and try out new positions with my beds with no earache.

Yep. I like that. I've got my notebooks and pencils out to start to plan the garden and lottie for next year; I won't mention the C word, but I LOVE wintery things as much as summer ones. Bonfires on the lottie, homegrown soup, new mittens and the like...

Whilst this is true, and I don't actually mind the cold weather either, we have already discussed the fact that it's the month when the *shuddddder* spiders come out to play, so I'm really looking forward to October.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I like it because I was an admin officer in a school and it used to be the signal to go back to work for another year! Not any more - good old retirement!

Yes kids back school !!! heaven ! i like summer, but i do like winter, not for the mileage i do to work when the weathers awful, but when i get home and my OH has lit the fire and the house is all warm and cosy, i like that, as we have never had a real fire until we moved here. x

Rhona - I agree with you completely. I'm so excited. It's now the time to start planning the garden for next year - where the paths are going to go, time to think about improving the soil without those pesky crops in the way, planting out shrubs that you've just bought at bargain prices at GC. Lovely pinks and yellows from the autumn flowering weeds and the reds from berries and crab apples and seed heads from all the grasses back-lit from the setting sun. I LOVE IT!

So, are we writing this year off now?

Acorns have been falling from our oak tree for a couple of weeks now.
