Why do people want to boost their post count?

    Why do people want to boost their post count?

    Threads like Count to a million,Matching words game,Just for fun.

    To name a few,keep coming up with no subject matter and as far as I can tell their only purpose is to boost post counts.

    What do the members think?

    Not so much to 'boost post count' as to simply enjoy a bit of harmless daftness. Some of us call that "fun".

          It's not boosting my count but some threads keep me thinking eg Just for fun.
          Any thread can be post boosting if a member makes multiple posts when they can make one.

                Thought they were a bit of fun rather than aimed at boosting post counts... what difference does it make either way?

                    I cannot answer your poll question until you can define what you mean by a "post boosting thread". What's the problem with people having a bit of fun? Why does the number of posts people have made matter to you?

                      Since the threads mentioned are not 'post count boosting' at all, but just 'a bit of a lark' the poll question is pointless. Fun is good. Moaning about other people's harmless nonsense is NOT good!

                        People who multiple post get them merged, as for the other threads, tis harmless fun, and fun it must be said enjoyed by most of us.

                            I think they're ok, I join in the 'Just for Fun' one. And if you read the others, the posters are usually having a chat at the same time, a bit like a long running chat thread. Although there does seem to be quite a lot going at the moment, and it makes some other threads disappear off the page quite quickly, with the number of stickies there are as well.

                              I mean, if I really just cared about boosting my post count I'd post inane comments on every thread, oh wait ...
