  • Why did I invite people to dinner?

Am having 5 minutes destressing on the grape vine as I have invited a friend and her new husband for dinner. Am now so stressed that I can barely breath, it seemed such a good idea at the time.
Cooking roast turkey with all the trimmings and chocolate pecan fondants for desert with clotted cream. Why oh why was I so brave?

Oh no just remembered that the dogs haven't been brushed yet....aggghhhh

Sit down and have a cuppa...if it's not ready they can help you finish preparing it!!!

    ...that's what friends are for!!!

Have a lovely evening- and leave the washing up til tomorrow!!!

Remember that friends come to see you. Tidy houses, good food/ drink etc are all a bonus and not the reason they are there. stop worrying it will be fine.
      Have fun

I sympathise Sprocket. Got the In-laws over tomorrow. I don't do the cooking, but the place is an absolute tip! Luckily it will be dark when they get here, which helps!

I'm sure you'll all have a lovely time

What was the issue, them or the cooking?

Hope it all goes smoothly in the end Karen
I'm like G4 - the food is no problem as the OH and I share the cooking, it's the state of the house that makes me have kittens before we have visitors

You have my full sympathies hon. Years ago (before I had time off work with stress) I could "do" dinner parties no probs, now no way.
Id rather cope with an off the cuff bbq in summer than do a dinner party, which is rather sad seeing as all our friends and neighbours invite us on a regular basis. I couldnt cope with the stress anymore, despite what everyone says.

Anyroads, hope it all went well. Do let us know. Love Bx

Yep, I know it sounds odd, but I guess having peeps round off the cuff stops me from worrying about it for hours before hand, weird or what?

I'm presuming it was last night. How did it go? I bet you all had a great time and you even began to enjoy yourself!

Hope it went o.k. I need at least three weeks notice before anyone comes for coffee let alone a posh dinner. Dim lighting helps I find!

Thanks fellow Grapes, it was great! Got told off by adjoining neighbours for being too noisy (we were giggling and laughing so much) and no one drank. Turkey was tender and moist, yorkshire puddings alittle flat (OH trying to be helpful opened the oven at the wrong point, bless). All veg was from the lottie so talked at lenght about that...
Pudding...ummm was to die for (even if I do say myself) Chocolate and pecan fondants, perfectly gooey in the middle - mouth watering at thought of it, definatley on the will make again.

Friend really impressed but did cough that she had not had home made yorkshires for years - shame on her!!!!!

She brought one of her 5 black labs , dogs had a great evening as well.

Thanks for your support - you are all wonderful.
