  • Who or What's Your Area Famous For?

I live in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. We have quite a lot of thing/people that are famous from round these part's, Dicky Bird the cricket umpire, Michael Parkinson T.V presenter, Mick McCarthy Ex Ireland manager famed for his fall out's with Roy Keen.
Barnsley Chop, not far of half a lamb on ya plate , and one of my favourites KES, which was filmed down my OH street where he was born (John Edwards St, Honeywell), it's was pulled down not long after Kes was filmed we also had the fantastic Brian Glover Actor. I'm sure there's lots more but at the moment I can't think of them.

So Who or What's your area famous for??

    Ooh, where to start???

Apparently Suggs went to school locally, Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen is from round here (some say but he doesn't seem to lay claim to that).

They filmed the Shell cottage bits of the last Harry Potter movies here and some other thing with Russel Crowe (both on the same beach).

and last, but deffo not least - Pembrokeshire early potatoes

Nearly forgot - the very best thing about here is that Madmax was born here

Volvic water and the Michelin man!

We are about an hour away from Clermont Ferrand which is the home of Michelin tyres and we are not too far away from the volcanic mountains that you see on the Volvic ads. I should just mention here that they have been extinct for a long time so they probably won't give you a problem if you want to fly anywhere

Where I hail from... Frank Bruno - used to drive into his cul de sac on my driving lessons when I was 17

where OH hails from, where we live now... Jamie Redknapp - they were born in the same hospital (although it wasn't a hospital, it was some sort of birthing centre?!)

No idea... there's a statue of Tommy Cooper and some walk named after him here (Caerphilly) so I guess he had something to do with this place.
