Ignorance.........i would complain to the disability department. They are not properly trained and some people can be so rude...why dont you call them back tomorrow just to make sure all is ok with his benefit, otherwise they may try to stop it. I once knew a woman, they had sent her a letter and she didnt receive it. A week later, she went to withdraw her benefit and it wasnt there..........she phoned them and they had stopped it until she contacted them. Even tho she had not received the letter, she then had to PROVE she was still living sst her home b4 they would pay her...........ridiculous
Dont worry about tomorrow, live for today

I've come across this before! about 7 years ago i worked with Adults with learning difficulties and answered the phone they asked to speak with one of the guys I asked who was called DLA says she, I explains that if it concerning his finances I could answer the questions as he is unable to understand, we need to speak to him, I repeat he won't understand and you will find it difficult to understand him as his speech is poor, she asks to speak to him again, my line manager who had heard this conversion takes the phone and explains who she is and it was her name on the forms an her who is co-sign on his account, she goes through same as me several times they end up making an appointment for someone to come out and visit said guy a couple of weeks later, DLA woman walks in says hello an immediately realises level of communication and understanding he has, says to line manager he wont understand these will get them to phone you to go through paperwork!?! Cant I just do that now with you, no she says as I'm not getting answers for MR X they will need to rearrange?????

        UNBELIEVABLE

As a fellow parent of an autistic child, I guess you have to laugh or else you'd cry.

Think I'd be tempted to ring back and complain though.
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

I /we once had 16 letters(on the same day) from the tax man concerning tax credits(change of circumstances)all from the same office.

I'd have demanded to speak to their supervisor/manager on their phone call.

since october i have been getting 2-3 letter a week off the CSA, telling me how much maintenance robs dad owes me dating back to september (never got that many in the 5 years of robs life he did pay for) .......... funnily enough though, once kids leave further education and go to university, they don't have to pay any more ...... funny how you never get letters saying sorry but they made a mistake lol

The sad thing is, it isn't

The really sad thing is, those who make the decisions about who gets DLA have the same level of training

I've been to several DLA appeals for people with ASD and it is frightening the level of ignorance, especially when dealing with Aspergers.

I think I would have started having fun with someon like that, by putting random phrases into the conversation, such as, 'Would you like fries with that?' and 'Sorry, I think a dingo has my baby'.

He is a muppet, though. I wonder if he sat there next to the phone, scratching his head?
