I hope you can bring them home but take it easy, better they stay put if any risk.

We have, and looks like plenty more on the way. I don't suppose we'll grind to a halt up here though -we're used to it Seems like the South will have to invest in more gritters/snow ploughs if this becomes the norm.
HW I hope you manage to get to the hospital ok

Yes got some here and just had a flurry of sideways snow as well. The chooks are all very bemused and not happy about it (neither am I, I worry about having to go out in it, don't want to fall and break my hip!)
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

The gritters only treat the bus routes and main roads.

In 1979, the residents of the small crescent I lived in at the time all got together to dig ourselves out.

ETA: it's not that bad here now, roads are reasonably clear, and about an inch on the garden; will take pictures for the blog.

About 2 inches and it's the sort that makes good snowballs. I don't want any though as I want the builders here, working - but I can't see them coming, or the skip arriving any time soon.

Breaking news... Philip Schofield won't be on This Morning coz he's snowed in, but Fern is trying to make it...

@Capsid, this is the joy of living in a milk producing area, lots of minor roads have to be kept open for the milk tankers to get through
