  • Who do you miss on the vine?

I've been feeling maudlin all day and got to thinking of all the folk who have left the vine since I joined, and which ones I really miss.
I guess the three I miss most are:

julesapple, for her wonderful creativity, and her sense of humour, she always seemed happy, even in adversity. (although I see she apparently popped in during June, but didn't post).

Glutton4Punishment, for keeping the minor rant thread going almost single-handedly at times, and for her down-to-earth common sense, her 'orses, and plain speaking.

But most of all, beardedbloke, for his knowledge and helpfulness on just about any topic, his gentle humour and unfailing politeness, even when sorely tried as a mod. He left a hole that nobody has been able to fill.

    Who do you miss most?
    Location - Leicestershire - Chisit-land
    Endless wonder.

I miss those grapes too There are a lot of Grapes who have bin and gone but I fear that I have been here so long, no one would know who I was talking about if I listed them

The only ones I miss are those who have left this world and can never post again
The others have chosen not to post here for whatever reason and may walk back in the open door at any moment. Of course, they may be keeping an eye on things as a guest, so I shan't say anything rude about them

Sorry VC.. I have been absent for quite some time, the last time I was here there were some serious technical issues that seemed to go on for ages.. a few of my posts 'disappeared' some of them with several photos.

To be honest the vine isn't that user friendly at the best of times compared to other platforms..but when it didn't really work at all it wasn't enticing!

I wouldn't say anything rude about you Captn
You're not the only one who has been having problems and I'm sure a lot of our missing members have left because of technical difficulties.
Can't make any promises but I know its being worked on behind the scenes currently.

Haha! Thanks.. I know you and others put a lot of time into the vine, and this is no criticism of you at all but that's exactly the line that the admin was using 4-5 months ago!

Not been here long enough I suppose - though its interesting to follow back on certain prolific posters to find out when/why they left...

As for the site in general I'd be a little concerned at
                https://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/

there's a certain pressure to make all sites https (somewhat more secure) - something else for admin I guess...

Basically the https version of the forum hasn't been set up - If you 'make an exception' you'll see a default page from the people who provide the overall service - think they are American.
To make https work you essentially have to have a certificate from a trusted provider that say you are really who you claim to be - its not that hard to do (if you're running a web forum at least) - I have to double check a few notes at work in order to do one there (as it were) - https basically means that your communication to and from the website can't be viewed by anyone else hacking into the network.
anyhow - on this site I'd advise not to use a username/password that you use anywhere else... (just sayin)
