  • Who do you have house insurance with?

After being a creature of habit for 14 years, I'm thinking of changing my home insurance provider.

I'm pretty shocked at how many companies have really bad reviews.

I'm with Direct Line just now and haven't had a problem with them even if I've had to claim but the renewal fees are well over £100 compared to other quotes (£200 in some cases).

Are you happy with your provider? Anyone you would steer clear of?

Can't really suggestion anyone but would like to emphasise on reading the small print and checking they cover everything you want and there are no daft non pay out clauses like there is a tree in your garden close to your house

Can't really recommend one company as I change mine almost every year. Seems to me there is no reward for loyal customers, but there is always a good deal to attract new ones.

Try one of the comparison websites. Once you have a quote for DirectLine, ring them up and ask why its cheaper and can they match it?
There's usually an "adjustment" they will make to keep your custom!

We were with M&S but moved to J.Lewis who were considerably cheaper and we got a £50 gift card for taking out a new policy. Do as VC suggested though as my car insurance was due and I contacted J.Lewis for a quote...£120 or so cheaper than M&S who have been my insurer for years. I then called M&S and they bettered the quote by £10.00 to stick with them, a grand saving of £130 without moving insurance company! Worth the few minutes call.

Yes, me too. I'm not loyal and I'll ring around many times after Ive got a good quote to see if anyone give me another discount on top.
