  • When's your garden at it's best?

I was looking out at my patch the other day and somehow, and this wasn't planned, my garden always looks it's best this time off year. I don't know if this is because this is my favourite time off the year and I've subconsciously chosen plants for their Autumn colour and created an Autumn garden but I do love plants that earn their keep and produce something of interest as long as poss.
How about everyone else? When do yours come into their own?

I think mine inadvertantly looks it's best in spring. Thats because I went completely overboard with bulbs this time last year

I think my answer is usually - next week!

Definitely not at the moment!! I've had a doggie houseguest for a few weeks, the lawn is brown through lack of rain, and I've been so busy at work I've not dead-headed or tidied for weeks. Made a bit of a start yesterday, then ended up doing a double shift at work. Home today at 3, and it's raining (needed, but means I can't get much done)

There's a park near us which always looks stunning in autumn, but is pretty boring the rest of the year. I'm convinced it was done deliberately as other parks in the area don't have this effect so it's unlikely that it was an accident.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I know what you mean flummery. There are pockets of prettiness in my garden and always things that need improving.

I have only got a small back garden, roughly 40' x 40'. My objective this past few years is to achieve an edible one. Nothing is grown in rows more of a random hotchpotch. Blackberry and runner beans provide the shade on the pergola whilst the spuds make great pot plants. I sort of grow tayberry and raspberry over an arbour and have a goosberry tree on the patio. I love it anytime of the year.

Sometimes mine improves if I shut them altogether!
