  • When do you get up?

I need help, inspiration, guidance, kick-up butt to get up and out running on the streets at dark o'clock.

What time do you get up?
And can you send me help if you arise before 0600hrs?

    You're very kind

PS - I do go to bed early (2130hrs)

At the very very very last minute possible so that we are able to eat, feed the animals and not be late for school. Oh and I have to straighten my barnet before we leave the house or would get arrested for being in possession of crazy hair.
This morning this was 7.38. Left with the brood at 8.37, it's a 6 minute walk to get the littlest to preschool by 8.45. This means tomororow I can have 2 extra minutes in bed as 2 were wasted today

I HATE getting up, it ruins my WHOLE day. And I am not in bed much later than you are Pisk

Get up around 5.30 every day...

2 loud alarms, set 15 mins apart. Bedside light is a touch-lamp, set close enough to the alarm clock that you can't help but touch it when you turn the alarm off - Lights On!!

Get your stuff ready the nigth before - you'll never get going if you have to rummage for your running gear. Also, check the weather forecast the night before, then you know whether you'll need waterproofs/hat etc.

I'm like OWG - around 5.30 every morning. No alarm clock needed. My body clock just seems to wake me up around then. If you want to go running at stupid o'clock then do as OWG says. Get your stuff ready the night before and set the alarm(s). Get coffee ready to go the night before as well (or make a flask).

The old valve radio is switched on by a timer gadget at 6.45 and sometimes I hear the 'thunk' as the valves start to warm up. The radio warms up over a few seconds so it is not a stressful way to wake up. I stay in bed till about 7 allowing my body to accept that it has to drag itself out of bed Then it's all the fun of getting the boys up, fed and out the door for their busses at around 8

Don't go running, spend the extra time in your pit. Running is bad for the joints.

I'm not a good getter-upper, I have to admit. My body clock wakes me up when it gets light. So, in summer, I can turn over for a couple more hours sleep, and in the winter I'm always late!

Blimey, that is early! Do you go to sleep about that time too? Very rarely go before about 11 but then go pretty much straight to sleep. Wake up naturally about 6.30ish, just before the alarm goes off. Can get up earlier but don't like doing so as if I get into work earlier then I still end up leaving at the same time so would rather have the extra half hour in bed. Sorry this doesn't really help your question but am still shocked you go to bed so early, sorry

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

That's not early! I'm in bed by 8pm most nights; by then my back is so painful I just need to lie down. Sometimes it's even earlier; I do read for an hour.

For running: get the kit ready so you don't have to look for anything (shoes, clothes, keys, water, MP3).

Don't allow yourself any sitting down or coffee until you've done your laps

It really isn't that early - I have trouble staying awake past 9 pm, but I am usually up around 5. 30. I believe our forebears used to go to bed when it got dark, and woke when it got light.

My alarm goes off at 7am during term time, not at all during holidays unless I have to be up. I go to bed about 10pm sometimes I read most often not. Sometimes when I have things churning over in my mind I get up at stupid oclock, luckily not very often lately.

My alarm goes off at 10 past 7, and I usually drag meself up at half past. Out the door by 8.45 ish. But then I don't go to bed til at least midnight, sometimes 1am. As the kids have got older and stay up later, so do I - I just can't get to sleep until I know they are

Now that there is nothing that must be done or peeps relying on me I find that getting up is easy. In the old days the bed would feel so comfy and me so sleepy it was a wrench. I now can get up just when I please and it is generally about 6. I lay awake thinking of things I would like to do and before I know it am up and doing.
