  • Wheat Intolerant

My BH has recently found out that she is wheat intolerant.
    Does anybody have similar problems?
Any gluten/wheat free recipes particularly bread?

We have a couple of recipe books but bread seems to be more cake like.

I'm intolerant of soya milk...tastes disgusting. Or does that not count?

She doesn't have thyroid problems does she as that can have a Coeliac side to it...apparently!

I've got a couple of amazing chocolate cake recipes...I don't normally like chocolate cake, but these ones I can more than manage.

You can get gluten free bread flour at the shops. Sorry, I've never used it, so can't say if it's any good.

Are you using a breadmaker? I have a Kenwood BM450 - the wheat free bread is actually quite nice, completely not what I expected (I haven't made it, but have eaten some of someone who has the same BM as me).

          Hi Steve,
I think most gluten free bread is "cake like" or like flat bread as you can't use yeast to react with gluten, which I believe is the reason the bread rises and goes "fluffy".

          Some recipes here

Yes she does. She had part of her thyroid knocked out by irradiation and now takes tablets.

She is ok with bread made from french flour, strangely.
She thought she would risk it at a restaurant recently and had bread rolls made from french flour and no problems.

Ha - back to the endocrinologist and ask for dietary referral.
