  • Whats Your Favorite Christmas Song Or Which One Gets On Your Nerves??

Come on, Whats your favorite & Which one would you like to put in the "Never want to hear again BIN".
It can be a Pop Song, Hymn, New, Old...what ever rocks your boat/have you jumping over board.
It can be one that's really special to you or one that has you running for the hills.

Your not limited to just the one, that would be cruel!

I'll start with:- I love "Fairytale Of New York" - The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl, Always gives me goose bumps.
Nat King Cole - The Christmas Song (Chestnuts roasting on an open fire), Reminds me of my late mum.
And "I Believe In Farther Christmas" - Greg Lake.

I'm really not keen on "A Winters Tale" - David Essex.

Hymn's I love, Silent Night & O' Little Town Of Bethlehem.

My absolute fave is Elvis Presley 'Blue Christmas' I adore it to pieces!!
I love proper carols too and used to be in the school choir singing all the descants (I still don't know how to sing the proper tunes and have to mouth along instead or I get all confused)

Getting on my nerves - anything played before mid-December!
One I love, The Shepherds' Farewell. I think it's by Berlioz. Fantastic tune. We do it at our Choral Society most years.

I LIKE "Winter's Tale". My favourite carol is probable "Oh Come All ye Faithful" which was always sung in Latin at school (Adeste Fideles) and I wind my children up by singing it in that language .

I also like "Driving Home for Christmas" and "Fairytale of New York"

"It is neccessary to have wished for death in order to know how good it is to live" (also Alexandre Dumas)

Never feel that it's really Christmas until I've heard Craig Lake "I Believe In Father Christmas". The last verse sends shivers down my spine.
Cannot STAND Slade "Merry Christmas Everybody." Reminds me of a particularly bad time in my life.
LOVE "Hark the Herald Angels Sing". Always want to try and do the descant bit but never can because my throat closes up with emotion!!

I love Fairytale of New York, and for some strange reason Christmas Wrapping by the Waitresses, but probably only because it has a happy ending (Aaaah! Soppy cow ) Love the oldies from Slade and Wizzard too.

Hate anything by Cliff Richard, especially his Christmas twaddle.

Oh yeah, I like A Spaceman came travelling too - Chris de Burgh?
