  • What is/are your nickname(s)?

With an obvious 'cap tip' to the http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...mes_37454.html and http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...tic_41121.html threads.

What nickname(s) do you have outside of the Vine and why?

    - Ollie is my most common nickname as I'm Christened 'Oliver', but that's reserved for when my mum's in a mood or the police want to talk to me.
    - Ollie-Tom (Also, Oliver-Thomas, Tommy and Peepin'-Tom as a result), just because one of the guy's at work knew a guy they called that...no better reason.
    - Ol-Poll, by my sister and hence all her friends...love that one
    - Nev, it's an affectionate name 2 of my friends call me and I call them, it's our version of 'mate'.

and then of course there's all the 4-letter nicknames that I can't repeat on the vine!

    1) Spider - When I met my OH in a newspaper (forum type) column (many moons ago before internet forums were invented), I was writing as Spider, because I had one of those 'Bang on the Door' T-Shirts with a big spider on it, not because I like spiders.

    2) Cardinal Campeggio - My best friend and I did A-level history together. She was Cardinal Wolsey and I was (still am) Cardinal Campeggio. We draw little cartoons of the Cardinals to one another on the envelopes of our letters and parcels. Goodness knows what the postie thinks.

    3) Numbers - Ollie calls me 'Numbers', coz I like to use numbered bullet points.

Mr TK's nickname is the one we use on here....it came from when he worked in Portugal which was 'Rei dos Tomates' which means Tomato King (obviously), this came about as he grew tomatoes there. Tomato in Portugal has a double meaning.....I'll leave that with you....just think two little round things! There were many jokes passed as to his tomatoes being 'firmer' and lasting longer than the Portuguese tomatoes!

His other nickname is 'Kermit'....as the first time that his ex-sister-in-law saw him pulling tug-of-war, said that his legs looked like Kermit the frog's!

The only nickname I'm prepared to admit to on here is "Paddy", because of my Irish ancestry and my middle name is Patrick. Boring init?

As a child my nickname was 'bunny' up until the time a group of friends asked me if that was my [I]real[I] name. I didn't like people thinking I had a silly name so from then on I refused to answer to it. Now I am not called anything other than Mum or Nan.

My nickname is Bongo. It bears no resemblance to my actual name.

My godson couldn't say my real name when he was little, and I ended up being 'Sherry'... we then saw an episode of the Simpsons with a rip off of Mary Poppins, where she was called Sherry Bobbins. And because at the time I had a huge handbag, godson started calling me Sherry-Bobbins.

Then one day he just changed it to Sherry Bongo. And the latter part stuck.

It can get embarrassing and time consuming when you are in public and someone shouts out "Bongo!" at you to get your attention, and I'm down as Bongo in a lot of people's mobile phones as well. But hey, ho, it's only been going on for about 5 years!!

When I was little I was known as ' droopy drawers ' for obvious reasons and I have a photograph well hidden to prove it lol.
As a teenager I was called smiler as I was always smiling apparently.
Now I am Mum, grandma, Jack and eh you, depends who's calling me.

when i was younger due to my love of the printed word they called me Bookworm.

the scouts in my troop call me Boomer cos i shout the loudest,

the funny thing is that people call me it outside scouts ie; the local shops ( they only knew me as boomer from scouts) now 2 ladies behind counters in different shops call me it when i pop in.
                thts really strange that is......

I love it when a nickname transcends the group who originally bestowed it. They all called me 'Ollie-Tom' in my old job (as mentioned). One day one of the girls was asking where I was and when someone asked "who?" she said "Oliver Thomas"...she'd assumed my surname was actually Thomas.

I had a friend at school who everyone called "Savage" even though he was one of the quietest guys about. No-one but me and him actually knew why (it was because we used to play wrestling and he was always Randy Savage)

Fluff, Little, Little fluff, F, Li, FC.

My big sis calls me Roz or Roznic.

I never had a nickname at school but a guy who was older than me was always, always known as Cazzie. It stemmed from one occasion when he was five, going on a trip and had to take a packed lunch, and his mum had given him some carrot sticks, so everyone called him Cazzie Carrot. I actually don't know his real name!

AnnieMac (or GrannyMac by friends who are younger than me - not funny!), latest one by OH is GingerNut-Monkey-Feet, due to hair colouring and ability to grip things with toes!

My niece calls me Auntie Hobbit because I only take a size 3, she signed me up to "Pets are us" news letter as Mrs Hobbit, so every 3 months I get a letter addressed to Mrs Hobbit...she's mad.
My OH calls me wilder as in wildebeest, don't ask!!!
And my friends call me Jan, short for Janet.

I can't believe I've missused "You're" in the thread heading and no-one has taken the opportunity to point it out after all my show-boating!

At least I got in first
