My oven exploded a couple of months ago. Due to red tape I ended up getting an induction hob, rather than another gas. This made the rest of the kitchen look tatty. So then I painted over the purple edging near the ceiling. This made the walls look discoloured. So Then I painted the tiled walls. Which then made the cupboards look dated. So then I painted the cupboards. (my dad also built me a new one) Once the cupboards were looking smart, of course the floor needed doing too. So I got some vinyl planks. Now I can't but eye up the sink, washing machine and fridge. Other than the new oven it's been probably around £100, so not too bad. But it must stop soon!

Lottie, you're not alone. Got the last of the fruit in from the garden today and put it to bed for the Winter - the garden not the fruit - and now I'm looking at DIY inside. BIG mistake.....the list is as long as your arm (as is the cost) and I shall want it all doing for Christmas but I'm the only one to do it. That way madness lies....!

I'm sure you could scrounge up an acceptable assortment of colours from the bargain bin and repaint the walls with a nice camoflage pattern, thus alleviating any future need to wipe off dirty splashes

I seem to be able to pick up reasonably priced second hand Rayburn solid fuel cookers from eBay. Problem is that the flue pipe will cost three times what I pay for the cooker...............not good!

I'm obviously affected (afflicted?) too. I decided that I was sick of the pale grey lino in the kitchen, so went and bought some cheap (well, not cheap, but cheapest) charcoal grey carpet tiles, they soak up the Dawg's foot-prints, and have made it much much warmer.

Just finished and started thinking that I should do the same for the bathroom. Mr.G came home, and said "Wow! That's better - how abut doing the bathroom, too!?" So, this weekend, I did the bathroom. Dark blue to match the pattern in the walls. Amazing how much warmer it is in there, too.

Job well done. Trouble was, I bought a rug for the lounge, whilst I was in the DIY shop, too. Now have the urge for scatter cushions...

If only my bank balance could cope with these extravagances!

I really need an indoor hobby.
Can't get to the watercolours at the moment though, or the wool, or the craft stuff. I spose I could make sorting my study out a priority...

Yep, I got it too...been decorating for weeks now. Bathroom repainted, hallway repainted, daughter's room wallpapered, son's wallpapered, new carpets, now want new carpet on landing and stairs. New kitchen ordered...back door bricked in as whole new room design. Bricking up the stupid circular window in the hall as it served no purpose and looked tatty. Laid a new limestone floor..., Mr VVG is exhausted as he refuses to pay anyone to do the graft (Yorkshire ). But I did garden today in the wet, so am still hardcore!!!

There must be something going round, as many will know my putor packed up a week ago. So completely stripped the office and did a redec, mind you its was in dire need as SWMBO does not go in there. And men and mops, hoovers and dusters don't seem to mix in this house.
