  • What is it with the word "the"?

Whenever I'm typing I almost invariably type "teh" instead of "the".

I've decided that my fingers are dyslexic!

I do the same thing. I also spell morning "monring." Every time. And however I spell Guardian (except for this time 'cos I've checked) it's always, always wrong. I think it's my brain. It's not working proper.

Most of my words get mixed up when typing; brain moves faster than fingers and try to keep up with what's going on upstairs all the time [that's my excuse]. I know how to spell, it's just the letters get jumbled up when typing them.

I used to have an assistant that definitely did not type fast, and still typed lots of words consistently incorrectly. As these were for external reports I had to do something or I'd end up in the madhouse. I used to come in early and change the 'auto correct' so that she would type the wrong thing and it would still come out right. Can you do that - not many words the 'teh' in them - so just autocorrect it and you'll never get annoyed again. Ditto Guardian/morning etc.

True and Flase (a programmers nightmare !)

I once wrote a huge essay on 'arms length organisations', spell checked it and handed it in. Bloomin spellchecker (my fault for not paying attention) turned every occurance of 'organisation' into something completely different. I waxed lyrical about 'the need for arms length orgasms' !

LadyWayne does a lot of emailing on her Crackberry and she once told a client to monitor their "sausage".

                The correct word was "usage"

The problem I have with my spellchecker on emails in particular is that it's all set up via our German HO and as a result is set to German spellings.

                I do becasue too Ma!

Oh praise the lord it's not just me then!
You have all made me feel so much better.
I am just getting to grips with touch typing.....just! and make so many silly mistakes.
Some are really funny, I would love to post it as it comes out. I have to check and correct though.

See I think that's my problem too. I use 4 fingers and a thumb and they aren't all on the same hand!

i'm a 2 finger typer, one finger each hand, and no thumbs, but i can type quite fast, as long as i can see the keyboard ..... i can't use the desktop pc for typing stuff, cos the letters have all worn off the keys.

son does touch typing, and can even text without looking ...... i can't even text properly using predictive text.
