I've found YouTube to be a great source of my horticulture fix, I've watched series 1&2 of Christine's Garden again, a few Alys Fowler programmes, some Alan Titchmarsh stuff...

But mostly people's Allotment vlogs, some are good productions & some poor in quality.

I've partuculary enjoyed catching up wth Sarah the Gardeners vlogs from New Zealand... It's currently the hight of Summer over there!

I don't have a telly, but I sometimes watch videos on the internet. There's always something interesting to be found on almost any subject among the TED videos https://www.ted.com/

I don't look at gardening videos much unless I want to find out how to do something particular, when I can usually find something good on YouTube. But then I'm probably going to get distracted by other videos it recommends. And after that I might start looking for music vids I like. Usually trad or folk or ethnic music from different parts of the world. So once I get onto YouTube I'm likely to be there much longer than planned.

Its a bit like my taste in music very varied providing it's good.

I like factual programmes, wildlife programmes and even fantasy adventure.

I cannot stand soap opera or reality stuff, both do my head in.

I watched The Detectorists Christmas Special, Dr Who on Christmas day, nothing else at all except of course for the PDC Darts World Championship (well played Gary Gary Gary Gary Anderson!)

I have found the programs over the Christmas and New Year to be particularly dire. There have been a few really good films on that I have seen before on several occasions, I don't want to see them again. The whole calendar of them seems to go for the lowest common denominator when it comes to adults and also seems to be biased towards children. Not all households have children living in them and I have a suspicion that children don't pay the licence.

I don't watch sport and find "reality" stuff particularly awful.

I've fallen back on Netflix and Amazon Prime and caught up on a few films I've wanted to see but missed.

Christmas TV was pants this year, normally record quite a few things but not this year. Don't watch that much really apart from the news, football and Corrie in general although do like a good play that makes you think or a quiz show with an element of intelligence. Find a lot comedies rather pathetically childish these days too with over powering taped laughter to remind you that it's meant to be funny. Don't really get on with vlog type stuff either as there's just so much waffle until you find the bit of info you want, much prefer to read an article instead - find that annoying on a lot of web ages too, don't want to watch a video, just tell me

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Not just me then. How does anyone get to tell the TV companies they've got it wrong or do they have so many watchers that enjoy the carp that is put on they don't care.

A final plea that you watch The Detectorists. No laughter track or studio audience, you have to decide for yourself what is funny and what isn't. The first series was brilliant, the second almost as good. Although the Christmas special felt a bit like a postscript. I don't expect they will make any more though.

They aren't on iPlayer any more, they are trying to sell the DVD box sets ... but I daresay they will repeat at some point. Keep an eye open!

Yes, perhaps this is one of my exemptions but it was still on twice over Christmas and I watched it one of those times, I didn't need to see it twice in a week. Fantastic story and film.

Panda babies on itv the other day was really good. I like programmes about animals, like that penguin spy in the huddle last year, with the dummy cameras that look like real penguins etc. A lot of the films were repeated numerous times,I thought that's quite odd....

I watched a lot of animations over Christmas - Shrek, Despicable me, Monsters Inc, Up etc - seen them all before (many times) but I like the escapism of them.

Agree with Martin about Detectorists, a lovely gentle comedy with great characters, and some gorgeous scenery too. It's been a hidden gem on BBC4, but I'm sure it'll be repeated on 1 or 2.
