  • What have you achieved this weekend?

I always like to achieve something over a weekend, even if its only getting out of bed!
Seriously tho guys and gals - I was just wondering what everyone had achieved this weekend - no matter how big or small.
I've managed to move 50 heavy sacks of mushroom compost to my lottie (without spreading it all over the inside of my car) and then spread them on my beds, and touched up the paint on my shed.
I'm feeling very pleased with myself. 1: I have achieved what I set out to. and 2: I didn't hurt my back doing so (well, so far - I'll let you know tomorrow!!!)
So what have you achieved this weekend? Go on - blow your own trumpet! (if you don't no-one else will!!)

Managed to top dress my last two beds and get the polythene sheets/cloches down to start warming the soil. May not sound much but it is a major achievement given the Six Nations is on!

I am frozen today and it is raining and dark (again). The hens are hiding too! I will count my success for the weekend as having got hold of 6 mushroom trays - if I can plan what to sow in them and get them sown then it will be a real achievement! Hope to sow some Zebrune shallots and some brassicas too (if I make it to the greenhouse to fetch the seed compost)

I have dug over my new plot (50sqm) now ready for manure and spuds. I have almost finished terracing another plot and I have finished my first ever piece of knitting.
And I have wormed and flea'd the dog.

Went down the village this morning for the paper's and next to the paper shop was a big heap of wood that had been stripped out of the old bank building that is now a private house .
Any way the chap that was chucking it out came in the shop whilst i was there and one thing led to another which ended up with me saying i will be back in an hour with trailer .
2 trailer load's later i now have a nice pile of wood to saw up tomorow that will keep us warm for a night or two that was a good result this morning....jacob

Yesterday i did all my planning for school and wrote an action plan for the area i manage!
I watched the entire back catalogue of MoonLight on cable all six episodes, some vampire meets reporter thing.
Today i went out and got boards, screws and posts to make some raised beds with, made a yummy veggie stew with dumplings. Did my class planning for the week.
Hoovered, did the washing, changed and made the beds. Mopped the kitchen floor, finished planning and managed to download pics of my plot onto my blog and i am now sitting here debating whether i need a bar of choccy or not to reward me for all my hard work!

Yesterday - we drove down to Ashford to pick up a 1950s dutch drawing board and chair that we bought on ebay - and found a website in the US that has one for sale for $2500 - so I was quite pleased with that little investment. Very tired after the drive.

This morning, my OH queued for 2 hours to get Derby Tickets to Forest and Man U games...and got them [last time they ran out 2 people in front of him, he wasn't best pleased].

And this afternoon, we've been to Nottingham, and found storage and a sofa bed for the new room...to compliment the drawing board mentioned above. This will leave me AMPLE cash for the greenhouse.

And we had a lovely pea and leek soup for lunch, and I visited the lottie and all is well up there - if a little snowy.

So, all in all, a top but tiring weekend.

Spring cleaned the shed (I really should stop banging on about that, but I'm so chuffed with how my little palace looks!), cleaned the chooks out, had a gorgeous long run in warm winter sunshine glinting off the snow, and sang my head off to terrible '80s music without inflicting it on anyone else.

A fab weekend, and still the Sunday roast to look forward to. Best of all, I'm not cooking it

Made a big batch of passata yesterday from all the frozen toms I have in the freezer. Was well pleased with the finished product. No two batches ever taste the same as I always end up putting different ingredients in.
Have one more lot of toms to do and that will be the lot until this years harfvest (hopefully)

I managed to take youngest lad to A&E this morning with very swollen "bits" (him, not me ) after got hit in a very delicate place by a snowball & managed not loose my temper at having to wait nearly 3 hours while the drunks were dealt with first , then while cutting a few herbs to go with the roast, I managed to stand on a rusty nail which went right through my trainer & foot Am starting to feel slightly sick now so maybe another trip to A&E is on the cards

Had to waste the afternoon putting a makeshift fence round part of the garden to stop the workmen I have working here from just trampling over everything when there's no need for it.
On Friday they just walked over bulbs, pansies and primulas and even stood on some leeks. GRRRRRRRR !

Yesterday I felt sorry for the chooks so added some polythene to part of the run roof to keep the weather off them!

Today, I felt sorry for myself after shifting some heavy hardwood doors into position to make ANOTHER chook house. I couldn't decide whether it was going to be a six sided hexagon shape or an eight sided octagon shape.
After screwing the doors together with hinges it turned out to be a SEVEN sided septagon shape. For now anyway!
