    What do you want to be when you grow up?

    I only ask because I'm in my mid 40's, and have never really wanted to be/do anything as a career.
    Over the years I've worked with/met many people who had firm ideas of what they wanted to be, generally from a very young age, and they have done so. I've just sort of bowled along really, life taking me along with it.

    If anyone had suggested to me at 15, that a few years later I would be almost idyllicly happy despatching fowl for a living I would probably have laughed at them, and yet (money aside) I'm loving it.

    who want's to grow up? Same as you, I do what I do, because I kinda fell into it and like to think rather good at it too, but still not a passion and if I can find simular money doing what I wanted, I would...just 1 small catch...I still don't know what I want...lol

      Still waiting to work that one out Bob. Till then I guess I will just bimble along trying to earn enough money to survive I do envy people who have a clear goal in life though

                When I grow up, I'd like to be a monkey.

                It's not an immediate lifestyle or career choice, but how hard can it be?

                  Don't know what I wanna be but I do know that the worst jobs I've had have been down to the people I've worked with...

                  ...oh and vice versa. Some of the best 09:00-17:00's have been due to having a good laugh with the rest of the people I was working with.

                  Trouble is you never can tell which job is gonna be which!

                    One time when I was cutting Mr in Pots hair with the electric clippers you should have seen the look on our youngest grandkids face when I told him I was going to be a hairdresser when I grew up.

                        I am told I wanted to be a teacher from about the age of 3. I had dolls lined up, a little blackboard and used to teach them!
                        I did become a teacher. Never really wanted to do anything else (not tall enough to be a super model ), but now I am a full time mum I am in NO hurry to go back to it.

                        I do wonder if it was my idea to become a teacher or if that's what everyone told me I would end up being...

                        In our house we have a 5 yr old who wants to be a policeman so he can drive a plane, fast cars, a speedboat and shoot naughty people (not a Britch policeman then lol), and a 2 yr old who we have nicknamed ASBO who WILL be arrested by his elder brother in about 20 years PMSL

                          Good question Bob.
                          I had a miserable, fraught and unhappy childhood.
                          What I wanted was to grow up to be unafraid, contented and happy.
                          It doesn't all come through what you do for a living - more from personal relationships and the way in which you live.
                          I hope you find what you are looking for Bob.

                            Why should I have to grow up? I've made it this far without (50 next year)
                            Been a pub chef most of my life cos I fell into it, then loved it..mostly. But I would rather be a natural horsemanship instructor, wanted this all my life, but it takes money I've never had
