  • What do you do when rain stops play?

Weather is so awful at the moment and I wondered how everybody spends the time they would have allocated to their plot or garden.

So far this morning I have washed pots and module trays. Cleaned and oiled two pairs of secateurs.
Fed the cats(well I do that anyway of course). Doodled about on the forum and got the weather forecast for the weekend on the BBC.

I'm on my 3rd cup of tea and am about to sew some more lettuce.

I think the easy answer is - browse the Vine!

I don't have a greenhouse or a potting shed, so no garden activities for me.

Will spend an hour or two on my "Propagation" course instead (after I've finished here!!)

I stand in the greenhouse usually, when the panes are intact. Now i will be visiting the glazier and fetching some more panes to keep me dry the next time i stand in there. Or at least tomorrow i will. Got work today.

The wonderful thing about being disorganised is that, since I don't allocate time to gardening, or housework, I never have to find substitute activities for doing something that I hadn't planned to do in the first place.
I'm sure that makes sense but I'm too busy to think how to reword it!

Well it sure as heck is stopping me playing outside today! If it wasn't so cold as well, I might have adopted the "skin is waterproof" adage that my Mum always told me. Don't think she meant it in quite the same way though!!

I only really get on the allotment one evening a week after work and weekends, so I am makign the very best of my time. I have borrowed a pop up gazebo to mean I can transport it round the plot with me to build frames for netting/weed etc this weekend. I wont be beaten by the weather !

Head for the polytunnel and hope it's not rainning in there.
Sometimes you just have to scratch that itch and get dirt under your finger nails.
