  • Weekend Weather

I am sitting in my office staring out the window onto sunshine dreaming of my allotment and all that I can get done this weekend but when I go check out the forecast it tells me that it will rain all weekend and maybe even snow.
Why can the weather gods not be kinder to those of us who can only garden at the weekends?

Me too, Allie. It's been lovely here all week and now it's the weekend when I don't have to go to work we're forecast rain tomorrow and snow on Sunday. It's just not fair.

Looks to be okish here - 60 percent chance of light rain tomorrow, 30 percent for Sunday.
The weeks and the years are fine. It's the days I can't cope with!

I would be pleased with 60 percent chance of light rain, apparently here there is a 60 percent chance of snow. Which is a little hard to believe given todays weather. I rushed home from work in time to mow the lawn in a t-shirt.

Well, it's Saturday. I have the day off from work and the weather was gorgeous at 6am. By eight it had turned cloudy and cold. Cleared up the cat s**t from the borders in my back garden, watered and sorted the plants and seedlings in the greenhouse. Did a bit of tidying up and went to the lottie to get some leeks and guess what, it started raining. Back home now with leeks for dinner tonight and decided to check in on the Vine so I don't have so many new posts this evening.

I managed a couple of hours at the allotment today but tomorrow will not go at all I have decided, it has started snowing so I am going to have a lie in and then do some housework before heading over to my sisters for dinner. The planting will just have to wait.

Have woken up to about 2 inches of snow on the ground and more falling from the sky. I guess I shall just have to stay tucked up in doors today and consider doing some housework.

Snowing steadily here, but not laying much to daughter's disappointment. We left home at 9 to go to church, about 11 miles away. The roads became increasingly bad, and by the time we got to church we decided we shouldn't risk staying, even though she usually helps at children's service after the main one. We then surprised my Mum with a 9.30 visit, and Vicky chucked a few snowballs at the trees in her garden, there was about 3 inches!
As we came home the snow on the ground was thinner and thinner, until there's nothing laying at all. Just wet, yucky and cold. No gardening, and no playing either!
I fleeced the greenhouse last night and brought the tomatoes and peppers back inside, so there's nothing more I can do but wait. Typical, 2 weeks spring holiday from school!
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

No snow yet but just about to bring in washing as looking very cloudy. Have fleeced and bubble wrapped everything in sight including plants in neighbour's garden as they are away. Tucked up indoors with lots of hot coffee waiting for the onslaught.

It's probably moving across and down then. Mum is in the Medway towns, I am in Iwade. You might be lucky and it 'run out' before getting to you in Dover!
