    Weekend Breaks

    Hello all,

    I have been looking online for a 1/2 night stay upto 2 hours drive from here. Seeing as though you grapes are spread all over the country, do you know of any nice self catering apartments or lodges or even B&B's etc suitable for a family, quite close to a village or town, near to the beach maybe? I can't seem to find much and what I do find is too expensive.

    I'm currently investigating house swapping, www.home for exchange.com and I think the NCT does one too, it really appeals as it would be a 'free' holiday!

    I don't dare suggest camping after seeing The Two Sheds Photos!

      i know a bloke who has a couple of spare rooms ... it's nowhere near the beach but it's close to his new allotment that needs weeding .... oh, and it's free accomodation for a couple of days in exchange for some digging on the allotment ....

        Wirral is close with great beaches and lots of b&bs, but I can't help on price advice. We have excellent beaches, SSSIs, islands you can walk to at low tide, a coastal path, oohh lots. A Dr Who exhibition, ferries to Liverpool - loads going on there, day trip to Chester with the walls and Roman bits, lighthouses, an urban farm, museums, art galleries, loads of resturants/cafes. I quote from the web site:

          We were going to go to london and stay in a travel lodge but decided not to in the end. Travel lodges are all over the country, basic i know but you pay for the room not how many people are in it. Depending where you go they are quite cheap.

            Thanks for that, we have had quite a few days out around Liverpool/Wirral and Mr C works in Chester so have spent time down by the river River Dee often. Would recommend to other grapes though who are further afield.

              Yeah, I thought maybe Wirral was more a day trip for you, but hey, I'm an incomer and very enthusiastic about the region ..

                Just booked a weekend break in Edinburgh over the August bank holiday, we have rented an apartment, can't wait. Just planning what we can fit into the weekend now!

                  2 hours drive Warrington to Edinburgh?
                  How fast do you drive?
                  The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.
