  • Weeeeeeeee! I'm 'With It'!!!

Just a quickie, as I'm REALLY supposed to be in the shower by now, but I am typing this from my spanking new laptop, got free with Mobile Broadband. Loving it, already (until the first problem hits, and I can't just call IT, lol!). Have a good evening, everyone. Off to watch the first of the explosion displays in a bit (not really a firework fan, these days).

    Over and out.

Nanoo nanoo (God, Robin Williams was young, then!)

Enjoy SL! There's nowt like having a lappy - says she, who's lappy is always in the same place, always plugged into the mains (sure that's not healthy for it!).............but at least I can play on the Vine when OH is having his daily dose of Ebay!

Erm...it's really bad for the battery. Mine's been plugged into the mains for 2 years and when we had a power cut recently the battery lasted for just over 1 minute

SL make sure you allow the battery to run down to 0% frequently.

        Wotchya got then SL?

I was advised not to get one of those. However, common sense says to me; if I gotta get a dongle anyway (which I may - long story!) I may as well have a spankin new lappy for nowt!

I have a really old lappy, but I'm so used to a desktop that I keep pluggin money into this old fossil!

I've got an Acer 7540. 320GB HD, 3GB Memory, 17.3" screen and the initial deal is 15GB download limit per month for £40. The selling chappie did tip me off that I can ring them up and get them to lower my tariff and pay less - this is just the initial 'reel 'em in' deal. It's a smashing design and it's funny seeing the web pages in the middle of the screen, as I've got sooooo much room either side on this view, lol!

The Broadband is 3. Tried Vodafone (with the hope that I could combine BB with mobile), but according to vodafone website, the coverage is poor for this area, so no go. As it is, 3 only has 1 or 2 bars out of 5, but it seems to be fine. My house passed the coverage test, anyway. Mind you, I couldn't use lappy in the dining room, earlier, which is a bummer, as that's where I normally mark exam papers (my whole reason for going Hi-Tech, as marking is online from Jan and my old laptop wouldn't cope!).

How do you do that? I've unplugged it now, so will let battery run down. Bit late, but better than never?

Dexter Dawg, I clicked on PAGE (in Explorer 8). On my screen, that's up on the right hand side. Under PAGE, scroll down to ZOOM. You can then choose what % view you go for. I've gone back to 100% for a bit, now. All those big letters were proper scary, like!

Its not Windows 8 that the slug was talking about but Internet Explorer 8, if you look at the bottom right corner of Internet Explorer then you should see "100%" click on this once to zoom the screen by 125%, click again to zoom by 150% and click again to return it to 100%, alternatively click on the little down facing arrow to the right of the number to choose a different zoom setting.

PS Not available in all versions of Internet Explorer

If anyone is on Vista the shortcut for enlarging/shrinking text size is ctrl+ to make it larger and ctrl- to make it smaller.
