  • Wednesdays smile thread

It's midway through the week, the weather's pretty miserable, there's still talk on the news of economic gloom, but there are still many reasons to smile out there.

    What's made you smile today?

    Me?

Well, I looked in on the nursery this morning having finished the polka dots last night, and I can see it coming together. Made me smile knowing in just over three months time, that room will belong to someone else.

Edit: If you do nothing else today, just smile:

Thought this thread could do with a visual aid for those struggling to raise their own smile...

aaww!!How's LW?I can remember a supposedly cold winter when I was carrying DS......he kept me nice & toasty warm whilst I insisted on Andi sitting of a "cool" evening with the windows open!!
I'm still smiling at yesterdays news that Andi won't be being made reduntant....& from last weeks news that our rent won't be going up....oooh & it's not snowed here!!!(blinkin' chilly, but that I can almost handle!!)

I smiled when one of my quilting friends sent me the following quote -

"Most men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most pick themselves up and continue as if nothing had happened." Winston Churchill.

That's me folk, I can manage NOT to learn from experience!

I did my walk along the Thames this morning, cold and crisp, hardly anyone about listening to Terry Wogan and SINGING as I strode out; I could feel my arteries widening and the pounds falling off as I went. (The last bit was wishfull thinking).

Hi all I just wanted to share my news! I'm still smiling from yesterday because all is going good for my daughter and her OH! I got a double whammy of good news from them yesterday! They are both in the Met police, my daughter only came out of training at Hendon in Summer 2006. Already she is studying for an exam in March which if she passes and I have every faith that she will! She will then be a Detective Constable instead of just a PC! I'm bursting with pride for her, she is magic and I'm so proud that she is my daughter!

Her OH has been in the police for about 6-7 years and has just got his wish of joining the police dog handling team! As with my daughter just a few more hoops to jump then when a dog becomes available it will be handed over to him.

That will be the start of all the fun for them as they already have a 2 year old boxer dog, who while very lively and still full of play, is also very obedient! As for their cat which is not much more than a kitten at the moment, she is queen of the house and from day one has slept in the dogs bed and eaten his dinner while he looks on and stands guard over her they are so funny to watch!

Well back to the kids when my daughter's OH gets his police dog then that will be 2 big dogs and one little cat living with them !!! Me thinks some fun and games whilst the pecking order is being established among the 4 legged family members!
Live like you never lived before!

Laugh Like you never laughed before!

Love like you never loved before!

              One Love & Unity

Oooh Irie Jan, I too work for the Met (Staff, not police). Good luck to your daughter and partner. I met a lady on a course once who worked at doggy training school and it sounded such fun - esp with the puppies! Unfortunately I live too far away. That, and the fact that I am scared of dogs over 1 foot high kinda scuppers that as a career for me.

                        Nice thread Wayne.

I am smiling coz I woke up this morning with my gorgeous Madmax next to me! I still can't believe he is home all the time - it is wonderful (though it did take a bit of getting used to )

Also smiling because I have just been up to the hens and gave them some couscous we didn't eat last night - they love it! and as a bonus, I got another lovely fresh brown egg. They are managing 2 a day between the three of them, not sure if Flymo is pulling her weight yet but she had hardly any comb when she arrived and it is now reddening up and we know she is laying as there were 3 eggs one day - life is brilliant (even if we are broke and the roof leaks)
                        Happy Gardening,
                        Shirley

I'm grinning because I cooked jacket spuds last night, but couldn't eat all mine so i put it in the fridge; it's now in the oven heating up nicely for my breakfast.

No snow but what a lovely bright morning.
