  • Are we safe?

    Hi

It seems that we cannot protest without getting locked into a corner by the police, and now we cant even have a friendly discussion.
What is the world turing into. Is it because there is such a big divide between the rich and poor? Do this or any Government listen to its own electorate, put their interests first. Or do they just keep the big money men happy.

this is a gardening forum and not a political forum and sometimes without, meaning too, some people can take it too far............dont forget this is a family forum and children can access these pages. There are other forums where topics like this can be discussed without threads being locked!

I come on here to get away from news etc..........not to come on and read peeps and friends arguing!

I'm a little disappointed that the Mods felt the need to close a thread on the basis 'in case you lot fall out' - I felt it was a bit overkill, but I shouldn't comment really because I could never, nor would ever wish to Moderate a forum.

So as I have been told in the past, it is what it is

I think it's fair enough to be honest- there have been too many bristly moments on the Vine in the non too distant past, and we've finally got back to gardening and fun recently.
I think historically we all got a feeling where that thread might go..and indeed possibly this one

              http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...ard_28310.html

if any Grapes do feel that we have made the wrong decision, we can be contacted to discuss any actions on our part. We would like to do this outside of the general forum in the first instance wherever possible, as sometimes things are personal and aren't best in a public forum. We also have no way of knowing if we have upset anyone and cannot PM everyone on a thread that has been closed or deleted, it is just not possible to do so every time.
This is not a day job, we don't get paid for doing it. My kids are home from school on their Easter holidays, and I'd like to spend some time with them without worrying what's going on here. (I went out for the afternoon yesterday and came back to a barrage of PMs and emails. Luckily Andrea was here to deal with it)
Having spent nearly 3 years on the Vine I am becoming well accustomed to the signs of a possible spat. This was one that I chose to put on hold until I could be sure of keeping a proper eye on it, which won't be until the kids are in bed.
In future, if you don't agree with a Mod's decision please use the PMing system to raise the issue. Thanks

I know you may not like the tenure of this thread allotmentlady but just to remind you what is at the top of thechat page.

Got something non-GYO related to get off your chest? Feel free to talk about anything you like! (Keep it clean)
It's up to the mods to decide.
                      Their decision is final
I have been moded before and not questioned it.

..and yes thee ,me.....and a lot of other folks on here are good and great....I'm just so fed up with this pushing of ideas of what is right and wrong on the Vine...I NEED normal service to re- commence ....let's just try and be polite and respect other peeps differing views on here peeps eh????

I know I'm ALWAYS right.....but I'd never force my views on others!

Perhaps we should get that wording changed....

I'll bring it up at the next mod meeting....

for now, I'm off to plant out some asparagus.

This is the life cycle of a forum supposedly. On every forum I have ever been on, this question of moderation and what is and is not on-topic always comes up. I hate to generalize but there have been studies done. Why doesn't a magazine (a business) just pay professional moderators to do what they do best? In other words, the unpaid workers here are just doing their best. Move on. Nothing else to see here.

All I would say is be careful I would rather be moderated than silenced.
What subjects would you(the mods) stop us from posting on?

I will say again the mods decision is final.
