SIL sent me a text message to tell me he had been offered 8 legs of venison for £40.00 and asked me if that was too dear? He's not got his Christmas present yet .....

i pay £5 each for 2 leg steaks so i would think that 8 legs for £40 works out at a fiver each is reasonable ....jacob

Have a look at venison supplier's websites-it doesn't come cheap so as Jacob said fiver for a leg is not too deer

Hard to find prices for whole legs, did find on place selling wild venison mini leg joints 800g for £17 each.

Other than shoulder most venison is around £10-£12 per lb. A roe deer leg should still give a good couple of lb in weight (assuming these legs are above the knee sections) so 8 legs for £40 would seem an incredible offer. I think if it was me i would be interested but would also want to know why so cheap and where from.

I can get a whole roe deer for a bottle of vodka - and another bottle will get me it butchered ! Only problem is I am on a list - was number 13 when I joined, now third from top, so should get my beastie soon.
I will also get another beast for free soon as I have negotiated the shooting rights at the forest I work at for some mates.

Of course it's dear, it's certainly not lamb!

              8 legs of venison for £40 !
When I was a kid venison came as a whole animal and free - we wouldn't have paid anything for it - or trout, or salmon.
These days I have to buy it.
If I could get 8 legs for £40 I would grab it .
What else could you get for that money ?

Of course it's two deer - one deer would only have four legs!
