  • A Unreserved Apology

Last night whilst on the sunday night chat i posted a welcome to Coomber a bit short but they had been on a while so as they did not feel left out and thought no more about it then a PM arrived from a well liked popular member of this forum telling me that the message was a bit frosty to tell you the truth it shook me rigid i sent a PM back saying i did not think it was as it was not ment to be frosty .
Any way the post was no 16 on the chat so you can make your own mind up i know i do ramble a bit but i type as i am thinking and some thing a bit iffi might get by but i do not try to upset anybody so if i have i APOLOGISE that's it jacob marley

I'm sure it's all a misunderstanding, and I'm sure it can all be sorted out by private message.

Is this the post you're talking about jacob?

I'm not sure what you're apologising for to be honest. There seems to be a lot of 'jittery' folk on the Board atm, maybe its the time of year?

So I reckon you should just un-apologise right now!

        completely inoffensive - I think your pm-er is a touch - er - touchy!

Hi JM, have just read the above post. I don't think you need to apologise as I'm sure no offence was taken. I think it needs to be read again with the 'wink' at the end. Not frosty at all in my opinion. Not nice to get a PM though as I am sure it upset you, take care

I was there for a while last night jacob before I drifted away to something else I was involved in . While I have not gone back and reread the thread if I remember correctly you were the first to welcome Coomber shortly folowed by Wellie . If anyone should be apologising it should have been the rest of us for NOT welcoming Coomber to the Sunday Night Chat.It can be a scary place the SNC because there are so many conversations going at the same time that it can be intimaditing for some to join in so that in my opinion makes it all the more important to welcome newcomers .

Beefy is now going outside to tie himself to a telephone pole so that passers by can flay him with a whip ( punishment should be fun )or through blighted tomatoes at him.

All I can say is thank goodness somebody welcomed Coomber and I'm sorry I didn't so I'll say it now -

I can't imagine you would mean any offence.

I often have to check myself because by the time SNC comes on I've already had a few bevvies and, like you I post what's in my head and it's hard to convey feelings when replying to threads.

Don't worry, as Two Sheds points out, I'm sure that all this can be sorted out by PM.

I wasn't on live but read it this morning and thought your 'humour' was quite clever.....'everyone peeps'......'push yourself in'.....encouraging a newcomer to jump in and not be put off by our constant natter of 2 or 3 conversations going on at the same time.
Tis always a problem with fast threads- the mods need to keep a closer eye on us as it's fun to push the limits at times ( poor 'old' Lesley Jay ran in circles at times with 2 or 3 threads going at 'chat' speed ( WICKED!!!!!)
                    ...not that I'm encouraging it

On slow threads you have plenty of time to reconsider what you put. I'm sure I must say some weird stuff at times...but no-one has picked me up on it.
Jacob...you're a fun person- don't beat yourself up about something most of us thought was actually quite clever!

Ok, with my moderator's hat on (but I guess equally bearing in mind that this is me and not necessarily GYO opinion )...

I think we all need to lighten up.

Sometimes it's hard to interpret what a person types when you can't hear or see them.

Sometimes it's easy to think the worst if your day was already a bit 'off'.

Whilst we do have random posters, MOST people on sunday night chat are regulars or keen beans who wish to become so.

Some people in SNC have had a sniff of the barmaid's apron (not me, obviously! ) and might not quite put something the way they would in a more formal situation.

But all that said, if anyone feels genuinely offended or hard done by, please contact a mod and we will do our best to sort things out
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Not being funny everyone when I say this, but I've said hello on the SNC and not had a response, but I don't take it to heart because I know when there are lots of conversations going on it's hard because you are 'involved' in that conversation and the SNC goes pretty fast at times, but JM you said hello so please don't take it to heart! I think you're great!

Well said . Lately it's gotten a bit dark and foreboding on here. I understand and do sympathise with others who bring their problems and bad news here to share with others sometimes (and this is only my opinion) I think we get a little to much information .While I'm happy that the people concerned think of us as close friends and are willing to share so much of their private life with us they also need to know that some of us come here to escape from the same sort of thing for a few hours.
If your happy enough to post it - post it, but remember that others may not want to know about it.
