  • Trivia Question - Prince William

OK you guys, here's a question to get you thinkin'. You will be aware that Prince William just graced our shores Down Under and returned to Blighty yesterday.

Is Prince William left-handed, right-handed or ambidextrous?

    Janek

not being a royalist and not intentionally wishing to offend, in the grand scheme of things does it matter?

I don't think it would matter which hand he preferred to use as most of what he needs is fetched, carried or done for him by other people's hands!!

I was pleased to read that he had requested visits to Aboriginal communities and meeting with Aboriginal leaders.

I'm not a royalist either but he seems like a nice enough chap and I think his visit has been enjoyed by thousands of people.

p.s. In the great scheme of things, I somehow doubt that anything we type in these chat threads 'matters!'

p.p.s I don't know the answer to your question, Janek

Yes, Prince William did get to do some of the things HE wanted to do, rather than stuff that might have been arranged for him by others. Our Prime Minister is a very down-to-earth guy really, and a fine-detail person, so I would have thought that he would have put forward a short list of recommended activities to the Prince's advisers from which he could nominate those of most interest. The Prince, to his credit, also dispensed with a lot of the royal protocols and actually hugged and kissed folks, something his grandmother would never do. But, that's the Queen and she will never change. She's of another era.

Prince William first visited Oz when he was still in his mother's arms at age nine months and, of course, he wouldn't remember anything about that trip. He said in a speech that his mother adored Australia and he does too now after visiting for a mere three days! That's Australia. It either impresses immediately or makes no impression at all! The Prince also jovially hit back at Prince Harry who had been ribbing him that he hadn't lived if he had visited Australia! The Prince genuinely enjoyed himself (he even dropped by at the Australian Tennis Open) and jokingly said he was interested in buying a piece of (prime) real estate in Sydney. I'm sure his office will now be flooded with offers from realtors from all over!

Australians, as a general rule, are a pretty down-to-earth lot and don't mince words or thoughts. They tell it like it is. If they don't like something they will say so. None of this pussy-footing around business to be polite! And when it comes to cricket challenges between Australia and the Old Dart well there is no holding us back!

                  Cheers.

We've been to Queensland and WA; and Mr R worked in Sydney for a couple of years. It's probably my favourite place in the world, and we came close to moving there a few years ago. It's still something we'll consider when our little ones are older.

I think it's wonderful - you're very lucky. I'd love to see what you're growing Janek - I remember being pretty envious of what you can achieve in that climate.

                      G'Day Rhona!

In my neck of the woods we only have one growing season, unlike folks in Southern California or Texas who have two!

In February I will be direct-sowing seeds of beets, carrots, swedes, turnips, parsnip etc as all of these can take frosts, and we get plenty of them here! They will be ready for harvest late winter/early spring - August/September.

As far as I am aware he is left handed.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,

Why does anybody care? Seriously I'm not taking the mick here, I'm genuinely confused as to why people want to know?

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

For the same reason why I know that:
A bee produces 1/12th of a teaspoon of honey in its lifetime
a 50p coin has the same width whatever angle you measure it from
                            a duck's quack DOES echo

It's totally useless, but it MIGHT come up on a pub quiz one day and when it DOES I'm going to look sooooooo brainy

For the same reasons we have a thread on probability, the time at the north pole etc. Its winter and we all really need to get out in the garden
