  • The trials of a new pc

Well actually it all went swimmingly well despite the op system being vista 64 bit.

Now everything is very fast, web pages change in the blink of an eye, everything integrates well and EVERYTHING either moved over or was "found" first time. I am either very lucky or was being a bit pessimistic about the change.

The upshot being I can now post on the forum again as well as browse about a bit.

I had a nightmare with my new PC when I first got it and it had Vista installed... came SO very close to throwing the PC out the window on so many occasions.

Soon realised the amount of RAM in the PC was not going to be anywhere near sufficient for Vista (despite being above the minimum system requirement).

I really think they should give you the minimum system requirements but explicitly say that unless you have a 3 1/2 gig of RAM you're going to wish you hadn't bothered!

The only downside so far is that vista does not support the bt yahoo toolbar so all my bookmarks are now part of my bt yahoo home page accessed via internet explorer 7.

By buying vista I got a free upgrade to windows 7 when its released. As for ram, I got 8mb fitted into mine as standard but its quite cheap to upgrade. The pc came from an ebay company and was cheap, built to a great spec and delivered quickly.

Its as speedy as compared to my old one.

8mb? I didn't think Vista ran on that little memory, or do you mean 8 gig? Glad it's working for you anyway. I've been using Vista 32 bit for a while now and whereas it's not my favourite op system, at least it does seem to work (mostly )
Windows 7.. cloud computing.. problems.. expensive.. more problems..
I you'st to have a handle on the world .. but it BROKE!!

Windows 7 is good....its Vista with the bugs out and all the bits in that should have been.
