  • Tree Lily

I bought the well advertised tree lily from thompson's this year. It did produce some flower but got a bit chewed so looked untidy. It's about 2/3' tall. What do I do with it now?

If this thread is in the wrong place. Wrap my knuckles and tell me what to do with it.

Don't think anyone's listening Bren! Have you tried Googling?

Just had a quick 'Google' for you. One site had about 10 people all asking the same question as you, but no one had bothered to answer.

I did find one site that said they don't over-winter well in the ground, and may not regrow at all. So when they've died off, I'd cut down and compost the stems and foliage, then lift and dry store the bulbs somewhere safe from frost and predators, ready for replanting next year.

Hopefully that's correct, but if not, hopefully someone mor knowlegeable should be along soon. I suspect it's in the wrong place and the Mods haven't noticed it yet, in which case they can delete my waffling if they see fit!

Fab plants though, did you take any pictures?

You are both sweeties. Thanks. The lily was a set of 3 bulbs. I was loathe to cut it back because the blurb said it can grow to 10' or more and I couldn't imagine it doing that in 1 year!
