  • Too much in my head

I wrote last week re my departure from my Heads job to go onto my new post on Monday.
Mixed feelings, the school i am going to won't be all clean sailing, issues re staffing etc.. par for the course.
Issues re pay and conditions continue, no one seems to have the same idea as to what i am doing or how much i will be paid!!
The woman who was so vile to me on Monday bought me a present and cried and hugged me when i left, bizarre.
The Nursery teacher didn't even say goodbye and got really shirty when i left early as the chair of governors told me to do as she felt it was best for me as i was getting so emotional and i had said goodbye to parents and children in the morning, she wasn't nice. Her loss though.
Haven't slept a wink, too tired.
Loose ends to tie up, feeling nervous re next week, lots to do.
I feel as if my head is too full, can't seem to empty all that is up there, any suggestions re dumping all the junk of the last four weeks out of there so i can have a clear head for Monday, it is almost as if i can't compute anything else. Emotions, work, cleaning, cooking, sleep, just keep bursting into tears. Feel stupid, just want to be back to my old happy, optimistic self, don't know how to get there though.

How about getting in the car and going out for the day to look at something which interests you.
Garden centre- National Trust site-historical site- just a nice walk in the rain ( off to the seaside would be a long trip-and fresh air exhausting!) Maybe lunch/picnic..maybe a B&B overnight- and get home distracted from work?
If you've not prepared anything for the new job, then never mind- go in with your eyes and ears open and ask what the present staff think of their school and how they would improve things....and then prepare with more inside information(?)

Be realistic about your life...you work to live life and not just to work surely??? 2 days of guilt-free time off with someone/peeps you love/like will boost your self esteem no end!

    ...just a few ideas!!

I suspect that once you get to the new job, things will take over and you'll concentrate on what needs doing there. It's having 2 situations in your head at once, one that was emotional and left you with 'loose ends' feelings and one whcih is a real unknown. The known is always easier to deal with!

Good luck for Monday. Sock it to 'em! (Gives me age away eh?)

Lots of excersice, and a mental two fingers to the woman who was so unkind. I suspect that is still bugging you. Life will look better whn you get your teeth into the new job.

I always feel like this inbetween jobs, esp when I haven't had time to hand over the workload.

          BUT

Worrying about it won't make it go away, won't make it better and won't make monday come any slower or faster.

The people that you have left behind WILL pick up the work and get on with it.

A majority of them WILL miss you.

The ones that don't AREN'T worth worrying about

People ARE weird and even more so under stress.

If it helps, make a coffee - sit down and write down ALL the loose ends that you have. Then send it to the person you most trust at the old place, actually put it in an envelope and send it to them [don't email as you can still see it]. Then, stop worrying, and enjoy your weekend.

          And have a hug

Hope you're feeling a little better. The folk that were mean to you are probably just envious that you've got yourself sorted. Maybe they are in limbo re jobs now, and panicking about their future, so came across badly.

Have a little 'me' time this weekend. Monday will come, and what happens will happen regardless. So make some time for yourself so you are at your best, and ready for whatever Monday throws at you.

Spoil yourself this weekend, and don't feel guilty about it - you deserve it!

Spoil yourself this weekend do what you want to do not what others want you to do.
I hope everything goes ok on Monday, sometimes its the fear of the unknown that gets to us, you dont know how the staff will react to you etc. I would do what others said as soon as you can ask the staff. They may be thinking at last someone we can look up to etc especially if they have heard what you are like.
Set yourself small goals at the new school and deal with them dont try and change everything at once. There may be some you have to change straight away the rest can wait.
              One day at a time
Hugs for monday you know we are all here for you
