  • The time things take!

I don't know about you guys but, as my memory is a little lacking, at the end of everyday I write a list of all the things I need to do, in the garden the next day. I also add to the list during the day if something catches my eye that needs doing.

The thing is, the lists are NEVER really over long but there is always a few items left which then need to be added onto the following days' list because everything takes so much longer than anticipated. Mind you it doesn't help that I have to look after the house and feed my family as well (inconsiderate of them if you ask me ).

This morning, for example, I've tubbed up and/or planted out 6 runners and 6 french beans, with the help of my 3 yr old which has taken 1.5 hrs BUT is only 1 thing on my list of 10 jobs to do .

Now the munchkin wants lunch (the cheek of it) and after lunch I really do need to clean the house. I thought I'd get at least half the list done this morning, clean this afternoon and then do some more this evening .

Another glorious garden opportunity wasted .

I ALWAYS have this problem, whether it is garden-related or house-related or just anything at all really. The list just keeps on growing....

I am so behind with so much of my potting up and sowing but feel heartened by people's comments that things can be sown in June and you can catch up with yourself etc.

I do hate that going to work gets in the way of me spending the day at home gardening and with my rabbits. Stoopid work.

There's always loads of stuff left on my to-do list. Sometimes I just abandon them... and start again, do what I can. Jobs don't just take longer -sometimes I just can't get started. So lists look more like punishments than helpful tools.

I know why I have a really pants sense of time... that 'll be my adhd, but sadly even finding out in my mid forties why an hour feels like 5 mins hasn't made much difference - except for the rare occasions when I remember at a useful point in proceedings and quadruple time allowed for a job. I'm marginally better if I have a deadline.

And I spend quite some time finding out latest sowing dates and planting dates so I can feel better about all gardening inadequacies. But my OH says a little more time sowing and less time browsing might help...

I wonder if I look like a beetle to my neighbours - I wander from pillar to post in my garden in a random manner and nothing much gets done...

Binley has a way of doing that.
