  • Thinking of The iPhone

Just been onto Vodafone and saw they've got the iPhone for £35 to include 300 mins, unlimited texts and all the other bumpf on an 18 month contract. You've just got to pay the £60 for the phone.

Best I could find for 18 months. What do you think?

Best phone ever...I've been using them since the early days and I find it so easy to use, great internet access and it just works. Plus handy having your iPod on your phone. Seeing as most contracts are 18 months that's not a show stopper either.

BUT...the 3Gs is better than the 3G (don't know if the price you quoted is for the 3G or 3GS). Much faster and the compass and maps are better.

I had a 3GS when I was working with someone a short while back. Have just looked into the Vodafone prices and it's a 24 month contract + £30 extra on the phone BUT you get double the amount of mins!

I often think of my iPhone in fact ex-gfd said she was an "iPhone widow" hey ho!

I'm with O2 - 600 mins, 600 txt and 18 months contract. It's not the talk or txt to look for, it's the data; the iPhone just gulps it down!

Take it from your post that you're not so much thinking of getting an iphone but more wondering where to get it from? Can't help with that but do know that they're either something you really get or can't see the point of. I'm in the latter camp but then I'm a non gadget type and enjoy being away from easy contact etc etc but friends who have them love them but seem to spend more time on them than anything else.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I don't know about iPhone's as I'm quite non-gadgety, but Mr R has just got a new Blackberry. He didn't particularly crave one - his office manager got it for him so he could deal with stuff when out of the office. They're amazing! Purely from a work point of view, if he's on a train or something he can read emails, deal with documents, dictate letters, and his secretary can have them typed by the time he gets back.

I never knew this stuff could be so useful to be honest. It's very user-friendly too. I'm way more impressed than I expected to be.

I have just signed up via Orange. Same cost, same length of time but 600 minutes, 500texts plus magic numbers. The phone cost slightly more at £89 but the extra minutes pay for that.

              A brilliant phone,

I wanted an iPhone until I held one - it's soooo BIG!

I've got a Nokia 5800 Express Music - replaced my ageing iPod, usually replaces my camera, has touch screen, a stylus for writing or pressing 'buttons' - I love it!

Oh, and it makes/received calls too!

I got a Motorola Dex just before Xmas and hate it - it's driving me nuts. It's my first touch screen jobby and I want to go back to a flip phone I can shove in me back pocket. Now I have to have a fecking handbag type thing to carry the phone in case it gets broken. If I don't lock the screen it rings random people or wont work when I want it to cos the screens temperamental, plus the cameras rubbish with a capital cr*p which I don't get cos you're supposed to upload them to social site and it's not great for navigating around. I got it from Orange on a £20 pm contract for 18mths, unlimited text, 400 free mins.

On the other hand my brother loves his iphone. He updates his blog from anywhere anytime, keeps his social sites ticking over, listens to audio books working on site and watches videos / movies on the bus. Sometimes he even txts his old fart sister

I don't have an iPhone, but I have an iPod touch 3Gs....BRILLIANT gadget! I have a Blackberry 8900 curve, and couldn't be happier with it. It's easily the best phone I have ever owned...like Rhona says, it's a computer in your pocket, literally. I feel I have the best of both worlds!

                      I'd say...go for it!
I love to talk about nothing. It's the only thing I know anything about!!

I forgot I started this thread......

In the end I purchased a iPhone 3GS in white on a PAYG tariff from o2.

I then got a SIM only contract from o2 which gives me all I want for £20. That way, if i want to change or upgrade the iPhone I can sell it straight off knowing that it's mine, I then just have to put my SIM into the new phone - easy!

I must say that I am chuffed to bits with it and it was worth all of the £449 pounds I spent on it lol.
