  • That's it...I'm not going shopping again!

Went out to price some heated propagators, look for vermiculite and get some paper from my parents to use on the path between my raised beds.

    Came back with:

    10 strawberry plants (Elsanta)
    Borage
    Feverfew
    Bergamot
    Angelica
    Welsh Onion
    Lemon Verbena
    Hyssop
    Chicory
    Lavender (Kew Red)

2 heated propagators from B&Q for £11 each
Orange bucket as I want one with no holes in
    3 solar lights for outside
    Pack of 8 seed trays
Vegetable and Herb book (as mine has disappeared so when I find it I'll have an indoor and outdoor one!)

Oh and 3 large water tanks which were £10 each. One will be for the bamboo and the other two we'll either use for water collection under a bench in the greenhouse, and I think I might fill one and use as a raised bed.

So I must stop going shopping! I am running out of room

I had this problem, albeit not all garden related, last week. Went into M and S for a set of white knickers (the age old greying problem) and came out having spent £45. At least I know my bra fits, though.

I went to the garden centre for 2 climbing roses - came out with £37 worth of stuff and still forgot to buy a broom!

Went to Cranleigh Market on Thurs and came back £35 poorer - went for some granny slippers and they didn't have any, but they did have some nice clothes! Oh well!

I think I'll have to ban shopping. Or gardening. Possibly both.

At least it's not just me! And I keep telling myself that at least in the end I'll have a garden I can enjoy rather than the mess it is at the moment!

Lol sounds a bit like me at the weekend!

I went out to just have a look around and see what pots the poundstretcher shop were selling! I got 5, 30cm post for 99p each, a tayberry and a redcurrent plant £1.99 each, 2 little hand tools = rake, and cultivater/weeder type thingy 99p each. Then went nextdoor into Aldi to get some food shopping and came out with 80ltr's of soil improver which by the way looks & feels nice and rich, not too many twiggy bits or other rubbish either! think that cost me about £4.00 cant rememberThat was on Saturday!

I had already got 4 growbags for £5 form B&Q on Wednesday when I got paied. I dread to look at my bank balance, most of my bills will have gone out as well now so will be next to broke again lol who cares easy come easy go!

Thats my thoughts! My garden was a horrible mess last year! At least all this money I have spent should hopefully be worth spending as long as I get a halfway decent harvest from my efforts! Jah/God willing

I'm impressed my garden is actually starting to look like a decent one now! Well the top half is. We're working our way down the garden at the moment.

We've just put one water tank in for the bamboo (last thing I want is bamboo trying to shoot in my veg patch!) and one in the greenhouse which we're filling from the water butt near the house so I don't need to go traipsing down the garden every evening.

Also planted my quince tree...which was only £10 and was one of those "we'll just have a quick look" purchases as well

I think I might check the bank balance tomorrow, after I've gone outside and looked at my efforts so when I see it I won't feel so bad

I am going to put some pics on my blog, when I get a chance I have some old pictures of the garden taken last year when I had started to clear all the weeds! I also have a few newer ones on my phone but can't add them while at work! lol I have been too busy at home to get on my pc and sort it out! lol I have started a blog outside of the vine but there is a link to it on here!

Good idea with the water tanks, I must do something like that! My greenhouse is old and the gutter fittings have broken so I need to fix something up to collect water from that. At the moment it is a metter of running in and out of the garrage or house for water!

Good luck with your bank ballance! lol

Im out of here now is home time yeah!!

Yup that was me this weekend. OH moaned about how much I was costing him in this particular garden centre and joking asked about loyalty cards. They don't do them but the sales assistant replied that they could always ban me....nice
