  • Thank you guys!

Got myself down to the allotment last night to feed, weed and water.

Whilst there I met Stuart my neighbour on two sides (side and back), elderly dude who's been doing this allotmenting stuff for decades. Got chatting about frost and such and then when I was weeding around my rhubarb and harvesting a few stalks he said how good looking one of my rhubarb plants was, then a little later I was just going over what I have that seems to be doing well and pointed to the garlic. "That's garlic!?" he commented. "Wow!".

    Made me smile.

Then a little later on, Lawrence, my neighbour t'other side was chatting and I commented at how well he was doing (two plots and chickens), and he commented on how good my plot was looking "You've done more than you did last year".

    Made me smile.

Then, just as I was watering my peas another dude (who walks past my plot to get to his) commented about the weather, and how nice it was to be able to get down to the plot of an evening. He then said that we've had snow in June "Here?" I asked, and he said yes. Then said it was the same year of 'the drought' - "even stopped the cricket at Lords" he said. "1976 it was".

    Made me smile.

    It's the small things.

I reckon it's why I'm always hot. I was cooked as a baby and it's stuck with me as do most things in the early years of development.

Having the 'old boys' kind of accept me is great.
