i need a little cheering up...

i've been off work since may, woke up one morning with a pain in my thigh and all pain shooting down my leg...and here i am 7 months later and still don't know whats a matter with me.

i've had all kinds of tests to try and find out whats wrong with me i've had 3 MRi scans taken and the whilst i was having the first had a panic attack so the other 2 that i have had i've been sedated so they can do them...

had physio for a short period of time but he said he thought it would hurt even more and didn't want to cause more pain to me than i was already in...

at first they thought it was my hip that was causing all of the pain and had 2 occupational therapists come to assess me at home and to measure me all up for when i had to have a hip replacement...but because i was only 28 i'm 29 now i wanted a second opition from another doctor and he says that its got nothing whatsever to do with my hip its the bottom of my spine that is causing me all of the pain....

but it only took them 6 months to find this out so i've got to got back on friday for my results to see whats a matter with my back.

so over the summer i took up gardening to occupy my mind on something and found it was something that i love doing and even got my other half involve too. We now have 5 chickens and 6 ducks in our back garden getting fresh eggs everyday and we love it.

and i want to say thank you to you all on here cause i come on most evenings and read whats happening and i'm also learning about all of the different varities of veg and flowers and can't wait to start gardening again soon.

    thank you

    Lousie xx

I hope you get some news and positive help soon.

Meanwhile, gardening is supposed to be a good way of clearing the mind and stress relief.

Yay - Another convert to the cause!

Back pain can be very wearing - ask HeyWayne - I still go to the Chiropractor once a month, just to get my 'bits' all shoved back where they should be. Luckily nothing serious, but I should have got it done fifteen years ago when it all started.

Hope you get it sorted soon. Feel free to join in at the 'nut-house' it's what we're here for.

          Hiya.

I was dropped as a baby and it threw my hips out and I've had back pain forever...I also use a chiro and it's so much better.

I am glad you are here, feel free to scream if it is really bad, and lets hope they find the cause and get it sorted. It only takes one decent doctor to work it out and it can set you somewhere near to normality.

Keep gardening, and make sure you protect your back when kneeling and planting.

Hello Louise, I do hope someone can finally sort out your problem and give you some effective treatment. Meanwhile - gardening cures most things but can cause back trouble so do take things steadily, won't you?

Good luck with the results. Suffering with a bad back as well I know how painful it can be. Gardening certainly helps me clear my head (doesnt take much to be fair).

Very positive of you to find such a silver lining! I had a very similar-sounding thing, that was initially thought to be either hips, or related to hypermobile joints. Then someone brightly noticed that I was leaning out on one foot very slightly (check where your shoes are worn down!), which was 'throwing out' my alignment very slightly, which affected my spine, and my leg (I also had shooting pains/throbbing etc). I chucked out all the shoes, bought new ones which had a wee bit more support and the relief was almost instant.

I still get some pain, but only about 80% of what it was. Might be a long shot, but check if any heels are worn down unevenly!
