  • swelling and green gunge.

my leg gave way yesterday and i fell onto my knee ......... it hurts, but now it's really red swollen and leaking green gunge ..... i cleaned it with seasalt water a couple of times yesterday, and again this morning, just took the cover off to do it again and it looks disgusting.

does it sound like a visit the nurse tomorrow job, or should i just keep doing the salt water thing.

i know i should let the air to it as much as possible, but everything keeps touching it and making it hurt more .... so i've had to keep it covered

visit to your nurse or if youve got a NHS walk in centre (no pun intended) sounds like a bit of infection has set in, hope your tetnus is up to date, what did you fall on to?

yeah had a tetanus last year, when the cat bit me cos he didn't want a bath, fell onto some concrete, there was lots of muck in it ..... theres an NHS centre being built, but dunno if it's open yet.

Crushed garlic is a good anti everything, but you'd stink a bit...

Mebbe a chat with the practice nurse wouldn't be a bad thing... And mebbe aquire a walking stick or summat...?!

Bacteria thrives in a moist environment, so when you've cleaned it, dry it thoroughly with kitchen/loo roll. When you cover it up again, cut off the sticky stuff on 2 sides so that there's a good gap for air to get in, and if you're just sat down, leave it uncovered altogether til you're moving.
See how it is in the morning, if it's still mank, you'll defo have to see someone

I'd lend you some of my walking stick collection, but lookin like I might need em myself again You can have my elbow crutches when I'm done with them if you like?!

i've no plasters, but i found some gauze pads in the medicine box, so i've had one of them on with a crepe bandage holding it in place so it can breathe, but they keep sticking to it....... got it open now, but it's just at dressing gown length lol ....... sussed it now though, got a safety pin holding it up out the way ...... think i'll go nick a trolley from asda and get someone to push me round lol

Yer, but aren't the wheels designed to go extra wobbly if you take them out of the supermarket car parks? A bruised bum might add insult to injury!
