  • superking bed?

Totally random for a garden board but hey-ho.

Does anyone have a superking bed? Are they really silly big?

We are after a new bed for the new room and after sleeping on one for my posh weekend away in the summer think a superking may be just the thing. My 2 small children do like to get in the bed at morning weekends and it is a very tight fit with ours only being a double! Causes loads of arguments and injuries lol.

But wondered about being a bit lost in a superking and how easy it is to get bedding etc?

    Thoughts please? Thanks

We bought a Superking for the very same reason. Bean likes to be in with us in the morning (and we're quite happy to have him there), and although we had a King before, the Superking is that little bit extra.

I believe it's 6ft3 wide and 6ft6 long. With the headboard my feet still stick out the end though.

Linen is easy enough to get hold of - we bought ours from Next.

Our previous bed was toward the end of it's life anyway, so it all worked out well timing wise.

Oh, one word of warning - don't try and turn the matttress on your own. I was sweating buckets after I did.

We've got one from John Lewis. We bought it for the purpose of popping the babies into bed with us and still being able to sleep. It's fab and gorgeous - totally recommend it! The linen can be pricey - I usually buy couple of Egyptian cotton sets at the John Lewis sale - usually get a full set for under £120.

            Go for it...you'll love it.

We have one, not because we're posh but because Mr TS is a big tall man and I was fed up of him rolling over and squashing me.

tbh, we haven't got quite enough room around it to change the bedding easily, and buying bedding was hard (& expensive). We got some Egyptian Cotton on eBay in the end, but it was too small to tuck in and I had to sew a strip of fabric at either end.

Everything is supersize, not just the bed: when I wash the bedding, I have to do 3 loads (one for sheet, one for duvet, one for pillowcases and under-sheet). Drying it all in the winter is a challenge.

Also, the duvet isn't big enough. Mr TS still nicks it all, but that would happen whatever size bed we had. I've resigned myself to sleeping in a dressing gown instead of pretty smalls.

from what I have heard Mr. TS doesn't deserve 'pretty smalls'. Dressing gown, bed socks and curlers de rigeur

I used to have one but that too disappeared.
Said with an extremely straight face, "I'm always hot in bed" so much so that if I'm touched during the night, even in the middle of winter with no heating on, I sweat and wake up all uncomfy.
Dont remember bedding being uber expensive or difficult to find, but do remember the bliss of having a great big bed. Wonderful.

We use stretch jersey bedding on ours, bit like snuggling up in a huge tee-shirt.

If it wasn't it is now!

I too am *ahem* hot in bed, which is why we were advised against one of them mammary foam mattress. The constant and constinuous contact with the skin is not conducive to cooling.

We have an Ikea bed which I think is slightly larger than a superking - however, with the exception of the base sheet we use UK superking sized bedding. I get ours from Next and it seems very reasonably priced. And they have a gorgeous selection, usually with matching lampshades or wallpaper or curtains or whetever you fancy!

BHS don't do Superking, (or at least didn't) and I don't think Matalan do - but I'm sure places like Debenhams, M&S etc will all carry it.

We love our huge bed, couldn't recommend it more, if you have the room for it.

Me and him are a bit like Jack Sprat and his wife. I like a cool and fresh bed but he likes it already warmed up. When I wake in the night all I can see is the top of his head. Sorrry! did you hear me murmur whimp.

My friend has one and loves it. She says there is loads of room for when their daughters join them for cuddles/film watching etc and will never go back to anything smaller!
