  • The sun was warm but...

I just came across this quotation by Thomas Hardy and thought it was rather appropriate for the time of year...

The sun was warm but the wind was chill.
You know how it is with an April Day
When the sun is out and the wind is still,
You're one month on in the middle of May.
But if you so much as dare to speak,
A cloud comes over the sunlit arch,
A wind comes off the frozen peak,
And you're two months back in the middle of March.

Yes, the wind was from the NE today - and blimmin cold.

Nice in the greenhouse though, for potting on, book reading and tea drinking

But who wants to be foretold the weather? It is bad enough when it comes, without our having the misery of knowing about it beforehand.”
