Default Summer Colds

Damn and blast, I go all winter without a sniffle and now I've got a summer cold... Trying to do the weeding and dabbing at my nose in a ladylike manner with a tissue isn't easy.
This is not right, I could understand going mouldy or getting foot rot after all the rain, but why do I have to have a cold NOW!
Sneeze, sneeze, cough, cough
Sue

Because you're not taking your cod liver oil, 1 teaspoon (or 1 capsule) every day. Well thats what my mum says and it seems to work for me.

Have had a really bad cough ever since I got back from Glastonbury the other week, eventually gave in to nagging and went to the docs the other day. Instead of chucking antibiotics at me as I'd feared (don't really do medication), whe recommended zinc, echineaca (or however you spell it), plenty of liquids and steam. Seems to be working although it might be coincidence.

I find colds get better after 5 days with medication, and they get better after 5 days without medication . Zinc and vitamin C works for me, coupled with plenty of hand-washing.

Colds aren't the problem for me, it's the coughs I usually get afterwards, usuallly get a max of one per year but they can last over 2 months although the cold will only be a couple of days.

Strange that?????............. for years I had never had a cold or flu until I started taking flaming tablets!!
For about 3 months now I have been religiously taking a cod liver oil tablet, a multi-vitamin+iron and a glucosamime tablet every day (usually at the same time as I log onto the vine each morning!)
I work outdoors and always thought I was a hardy soul! Since i've started taking medication for something I didn't have, I seem to be plagued with all manner of disorders including aching joints, colds, flu etc.

I'll just have to revert to Doctor Snadgers Cure All and panacea for all ails(ales?)........Newcastle Brown Ale....now thats medicine to die for!

Same here Alison. I used to buy Codeine linctus from Boots to stop me coughing at night as it is a tickly, non-productive cough that keeps everyone awake. Went to buy some last weekend as I caught a cold and guess what, can't get it without a prescription. Had to wait until Monday then hassle the Doc so we could get a night of sleep. Painkillers with codeine in them also work quite well.

You don't want to be hanging around doctor's waiting rooms, they're full of ill people , you could catch anything

Snadger, if you don't need'em, why are you taking them? I started taking CLO because I was getting about 3 summer colds every year!

And how many do you get now?

I thought I was taking cod liver oil to stay lubricated, the glucosomine for my joints and the multivitimins for to fend off colds??

I've even toyed with taking a weak aspirin each day to keep my blood from clotting??

Have I been decieved, or am I a closet hypochondriac??

I'd be nervous about doing that because we would have evolved thinner blood if it were better for us.
