  • Strawberries.

I picked my first strawberries over the weekend - they're a bit late this year. What surprised me is that my grandson, aged 3, took one look at me walking towards the strawberry bed and shouted 'Ooh yeay, strawberries. Deeelishhhusss. Yum Yum.' The last time he saw me pick some was nearly a year ago, when he could barely talk. Growing your own obviously makes a big impression, after all a year is a long time when you're three. I can hardly believe that he remembered.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

Grandchildren have memories like elephants. They never forget anything nice, specially if you've foolishly promised a treat!!

Picked the last of mine this evening. Boo Hoo. Got a lot of good fruit this year, shame its all over in 3weeks :-(

I really need to get more than one variety but as I am so far only planting in pots and in a 1x2m raised bed in my garden that's all I can squeeze in. Lottie lined up though for me to take in a week or so so more strawberries for the daughters next year I hope.
